ΑΓΡ Member At Oklahoma State In Hot Water For Holding Pledges At Gunpoint
In Owen Hossack’s defense, the following was most likely never covered during one of the mandatory anti-hazing seminars he attended: “Pulling a loaded firearm on two helpless pledges, pointing it at them, jamming said lethal weapon into one of their necks so hard that it begins to cut off his oxygen while forcing his head into a rear truck window, then discharging the gun near the pledges while shooting out a side window of a truck is prohibited under the bylaws set forth by the Alpha Gamma Rho national organization.”
Unfortunately for Owen, hazing language typically doesn’t get this specific because actions such as this are covered under “general misconduct,” plus it should be common sense that threatening and nearly killing pledges wouldn’t go over too well with nationals, with the university, or with the local police department.
Those three organizations — the Alpha Gamma Rho national office, Oklahoma State University, and the Stillwater PD — have taken, or are in the process of taking, action against Hossack.
From via KOCO:
Authorities said that members of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity loaded pledges into a truck on Aug. 16 and told them they were going to a bonfire, which was part of initiation. Hossack, and other upperclassmen, yelled at the pledges and Hossack turned around and pointed a loaded gun at two students.
According to court documents, Hossack asked the students if they would take a bullet for their brothers.
Hossack also allegedly pushed the gun into one of the pledge’s neck and used it to push the pledge’s head into the back window of the truck. The pledge told police he’d had trouble breathing, and Hossack was making fun of him for coughing. The student said Hossack removed the gun from his neck but then a shot went off and shattered a window in the truck.
Hossack told investigators he had intended to shoot through the back window, which he believed was open, to scare the two pledges.
Incidents this severe often prove to be very detrimental to a chapter. Here’s to hoping the incident was an isolated one.
AGR President Mitchell Earl released the following statement:
“On August 16, an out-of-house member brought a firearm to a chapter activity and into the chapter house which violated the fraternity and OSU’s rules and standards of acceptable conduct. A report was filed with the campus police department. The individual’s actions were in no way encouraged or condoned by the fraternity and the individual was immediately prohibited from participating in any fraternity related activity and has been expelled. Members of the fraternity are cooperating fully with campus officials and have no further comment due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.”

ΑΓΡ doesn’t even have pledges…
11 years ago at 9:25 pmThen who was held at gunpoint?
11 years ago at 5:53 amA potential new member, the phrase pledge isn’t accepted by nationals
11 years ago at 6:57 amThis is why you don’t pledge at a fraternity that has never been above middle-lower tier anywhere ever.
11 years ago at 9:39 pmIf you don’t like Agr your a communist
11 years ago at 11:44 pmIf you don’t know the difference between you’re and your, you’re a fucking idiot.
11 years ago at 12:49 amOh yeah, lets guess what kind of fun butt chugging activities your “upper tier” sorority partakes in.
11 years ago at 7:01 amAGR was the seventh ranked fraternity in the nation last year. Take a lap.
11 years ago at 9:00 amI’ve been in a fraternity for four years now at OU, and I have never heard of AGR.
11 years ago at 1:00 pmThat’s because OU doesn’t have an AGR chapter hot rod.
11 years ago at 3:32 pmHe’s still on the front page of their website…so much for being “kicked out”. He’s in the middle picture, far right.

11 years ago at 9:39 pmConsidering this happened within the last few days, their top priority probably isn’t updating their website, you dipshit.
11 years ago at 3:31 pmHey dipshit, this incident occurred on August 19th. If you would’ve read the article, you might have caught that.
11 years ago at 8:39 pmAugust 16th* taking laps.
11 years ago at 8:40 pmThere’s just something about AGRs using guns at inappropriate times. I thoroughly enjoy it.
11 years ago at 9:56 pmAGR, to my knowledge, is only the fraternity to allow guns at it’s houses. I’m a huge proponent of the 2nd Amendment but damn, stupid fucks like this add fuel to the gun-control fire.
11 years ago at 10:22 pmEh, every fraternity on my campus has guns in the house. They’re supposed to keep them in a locker but every now and then one will be left out because of cleaning or whatnot.
11 years ago at 11:25 pmOklahoma State just can’t keep it together this year.
11 years ago at 11:14 pmThis screams OSU.
11 years ago at 11:21 pmFigures…That house looks like a public housing complex.
11 years ago at 12:30 amThey have an 8 million dollar house that is currently being finished. What does your house look like bud?
11 years ago at 3:35 pmProbably like a housing complex.
11 years ago at 3:57 pmAm I the only one that finds it odd they had pledges on August 16th?
11 years ago at 12:47 amThe real question is, why are their pledges getting initiated in October?
