UPDATE: 1 Dead, Multiple Injured In University Of Texas Stabbing Rumored To Be Targeting Greeks

Update 9:09 AM CST

The victim that passed was Harrison Brown from Graham, TX, a freshman member of Phi Delta Theta.

Update 4:59 PM CST:

Junior biology major Kendrex Jermaine White was detained for stabbing four male students, one who has since died, with a large, Bowie-style hunting knife outside Gregory Gym on the University of Texas campus.

Kendrex retweeted these bible verses hours before the attack.

UT classes have been cancelled for the rest of the day and all reports of another attacker on West Campus do not appear to be credible.

Original story:

Police have detained a knife wielding suspect that stabbed multiple people outside Gregory Gym on the University of Texas campus leaving one dead and three others injured. The story is still developing and not much has been confirmed other than the one fatality, but this appears to be a photo of the alleged attacker (holster and all) being apprehended.

Coming off the vandalism of UT fraternity houses by an anonymous group looking to incite chaos, rumors are swirling around Austin that the assailant was targeting Greeks. Fuel was added to that fire as the “Vandals of UT Austin” posted this eerie message to noted revolutionary anarchist website, itsgoingdown.org.

Prayers to the Greek community, there’s obviously mentally ill dejected sick individuals trying to invoke fear in the hearts of students that try to make the most of their 4 years.

Even if death is certain, I’d rather go out knowing that I fucking did everything I could to prevent it

At this point they are a full blown domestic terrorist organization. They arent much different from ISIS.

My thoughts were KKK — racial motivations, excessive pride in heritage, protests, etc. — but what’s the difference? Still terrorists.

I’d like to see practical self defense classes come from this. Helps people learn some elements of military training without being in the service. Truly sad to hear this. RIP.

Excellent. I was hoping to hear that there were heroes today amongst this terrible event. (There haven’t been much in the way of details yet).

Of course this is a top story on twitter and there’s not one mention that the victims were Greek life. Anything that will humanize people in fraternities is a no go in today’s world. RIP to the man that left this world too early.
