It’s here, folks. The frigid grasp of winter is on the way out and spring is prepped for springing. With warmer weather comes a tradition as old as time itself: porch beers. The only things truly necessary for a flawless porch beer atmosphere are sunshine, shorts, a cooler of cold brews, some buddies, and a lineup of tasty jams. These songs are sure to keep you mellow while you mellow and help your experience take chilling to the next level.

Lynyrd Skynyrd – Tuesday’s Gone

A slow jam. At least one person is bound to say “My name is Happy Gilmore, and I’m a hockey player” during the intro.

Robert Earl Keen – Corpus Christi Bay

A Texas classic. Anything by Robert Earl Keen could fit on this list.

Bleu Edmondson – $50 and a Flask of Crown

More Texas country. Those guys should stop funding the football program and focus on the arts. HA! Jk.

CCR – Lookin’ Out My Back Door

If your porch drinking sesh doesn’t include a little foot stomping, it’s not a success. As with REK, any CCR is good CCR.

Kenny Loggins – I’m Alright (Caddyshack Version)

Danger Zone is a party song, but this one’s ideal for a day of rest. Make gopher pledge bust a move while you listen.

Z-Ro – Comin’ Dyne

“Rap?! Are you kidding me?!” says the commenter who wore snapbacks and J’s before rush but wants to look tough on the internet.

Keni Thomas – Another Mexico Song

Courtesy of a great episode of Louie. Goes great with the marg life.

Turnpike Troubadours – Good Lord Lorrie

If you haven’t heard these guys yet listen in. Country ain’t dead yet.

O.A.R. – Crazy Game of Poker

Singalongs. TPBM (Total Porch Beer Move).

Mungo Jerry – In the Summertime

Look at those chops and tell me you aren’t considering starting a groovy band right there on the deck. I think Rich played piano when he was a kid.

Oak Ridge Boys – Calling Baton Rouge

Sorry Garth, but sometimes you have to go with the old dogs over the young pup.

Van Morrison – Domino

Morrison’s other song is a good listen too. Only if there are girls present of course.

Dave Matthews Band – Tripping Billies (Live at Woodstock 99)

Live Dave beats Studio Dave every single time.

Cam’ron – Hey Ma

“Don’t touch nothing just sit in the car.” It’s a TFM.

Slim Thug – Welcome 2 Houston

Nothing screams “I’m in a fraternity” like drinking Keystones with the squad while listening to a rapper named Slim Thug.

Three Dog Night – Joy To The World

The four words that get people bumping anywhere, anytime: “Jeremiah was a bullfrog”.

Got some favorites of your own? Share them in the comments section and, as always, don’t drink and drive.
