15 More Ideal Porch Drinking Songs

The first edition of my playlist for porch brews was a big deal. Due to an incredible amount of feedback from readers like you (seriously, thanks guys), I decided to whip up a new batch of tunes for the occasion. Crank these up next time you’re having a couple draughts on the deck.

1. Jimmy Buffett – Jolly Mon Sing

Jimbo is ideal for outdoor drinking, and this song adds some soulful lyrics to a catchy island tune. Best when paired with a Hawaiian shirt.

2. John Fogerty – Centerfield

Baseball is right around the corner and I’m beyond excited. This song captures everything beautiful about America’s pastime and is sure to inspire a game of catch or whiffle ball.

3. William Clark Green – Dangerous Man

This song is just flat out good. No embellishment necessary.

4. Led Zeppelin – Going to California

Along with anything else off Zeppelin IV. It’s folk with a rock beat, and John Paul Jones absolutely crushes the mandolin.

5. The Allman Brothers – Ramblin’ Man

I think everyone can relate to “trying to make a living and doing the best I can.”

6. Wu-Tang Clan – Protect Ya Neck

Used when the drinking kicks up a notch. RZA aka Prince Rakeem aka the Abbot aka Bobby Digital brings enough heat with the first verse to get the ladies butt-naked.

7. Robert Earl Keen – The Front Porch Song

I got a lot of heat for not putting this one on the first list, and with good reason. This is an absolute jam for the ages and perfectly sums up a typical booze-sesh on the porch.

8. Widespread Panic – Chilly Water

The first song off their first album whose entirety could easily make this list. RIP Mike.

9. Alabama – Mountain Music

If there is one truth in this world, it’s that nothing gets the crowd going like some Alabama. Brother Randy might be the voice of a generation.

10. Uncle Kracker – Follow Me

That picked out intro alone makes this song. The fact that it’s about banging a married woman is icing on the cake.

11. Kris Kristofferson – Sunday Morning Coming Down

I prefer this to the Johnny Cash version, but either one works. Kristofferson is probably the biggest unsung hero in the history of country music for his songwriting alone, and the man can really lay down a tune as well.

12. Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire

Of course Cash is still on the list. The trumpet movements in this song are sure to provide a certain theme that pairs well with tequila.

13. Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run

While “Born in the USA” is an obvious choice, this song has a more upbeat vibe to it. It also doesn’t go full “Glory Days” with its lyrics which is a huge plus.

14. Nelly – Country Grammar

Nelly is a sure to choice to get butts shaking and beer flowing. If you want to make a game out of this, drink every time he references cannabis.

15. John Mellencamp – Pink Houses

This song is perfect for unwinding and for making anyone from the Mid-West burst into tears. Those folks just fucking love Mellencamp.

Again, be sure to share more suggestions in the comments. With spring break in progress or around the corner, you’ll have plenty of time to have a few brews on the porch.

Oh yeah, and don’t drink and drive.

  1. ObamanableSnowman

Went with Jimbo, but not Why Don’t We Get Drunk or Weather’s Here? Jolly Mon is a good one, but I think he’s got some better songs for porch drinking
