2 American Tourists Carved Initials Into The Roman Colosseum

Pro tip: if you’re going to carve your initials into a building, don’t do it to something that’s historic. Try the run down building downtown that houses a failing company. The Roman Colosseum is one of the world’s most historic structures. Because of this, many names have left their mark in the Roman Colosseum: gladiators, emperors, Russell Crowe, and, now, two girls from California.

While on a trip to the Colosseum, the two girls — most likely drunk — decided that it would be a fantastic idea to carve their initials into the walls of the ancient structure. Hint: it wasn’t such a good idea. It’s something that they will more than likely regret after the fact.

From the NY Post:

The two women, ages 21 and 25, snuck away from the tour group they were traveling with and used a coin to etch the 8 centimeter high letters “J” and “N” into a wall on the west side of the Roman amphitheater.

Their fellow tourists ratted them out to the authorities for defacing the historical monument. The girls didn’t even think it was that bad. They were quoted saying, “We did not imagine it was something so serious.” They just shrugged off their actions that could result in a possible $22,000 fine like it’s no biggie, snapped a selfie, and tried to go on with their care-free lives.

I mean, COME ON, how could you not think that was serious? It’s the goddamn Colosseum for crying out loud. Girls just have to monogram everything, don’t they? They’ll monogram your dick if you’re not careful. Shit has to stop..
