Week 6

Butch Jones is finally burnt at the stake for witchcraft, Tom Herman (probably) gets a better job thanks to our men in uniform, and the U is back to having fans in the stands…at least for a game. A lot to dig into, but let’s start with our buddy Charlie.

With Strong taking back the reins for the defensive play calling essentially coaching for his job in their biggest rivalry game of the year, he had his Longhorns playing inspired football.

Unfortunately that defense is just incredibly young and bad, and Oklahoma will put points on you in a hurry.

Any idea what Baker Mayfield was doing at the end of the game, though?

Texas recovers that at midfield with a minute to play, and I’m positive Shane Buechele saves Charlie’s ass for at least the week. Texas’ two touchdown drives before that were under a minute and they were moving the ball at will on the Sooners as well. Instead we were treated to this desperation spectacle.

If I’m a Texas fan, I’m still very excited about the future with Buechele behind center. Kid’s a gamer. This just isn’t the year where you’re officially “back.” That Notre Dame win seems like decades ago with the way the last few weeks have played out.

Speaking of the Irish, their game with NC State in the midst of Hurricane Matthew was must watch television.

Need more sports played in natural disasters and storms. Throw an F5 tornado in the middle of the next Kansas football game and I might flip on the Jayhawks for a brief few seconds.

He needs to win a big game, if they lose to Huston he does not win that award. FSU win not looking as illustrious

Texas’ loss was almost a forgone conclusion, but the amount of yards the defense gave up was ghastly. Strong is a fired coach walking and Herman’s path to the 40 Acres just got a helluva lot easier.

Not gonna mention at all how Florida used a Hurricane as an excuse to duck LSU and the ass whopping they would have received?
