6 Cocktails Every Girl Loves That Every Guy Can Make

Let me first establish that ice cold beer and whiskey should be a staple in every guy’s drinking arsenal. There’s no arguing that. However, there is a time and a place to add other options into the mix, and that’s when women are around. I like women. Women like cocktails. Ipso facto, I like cocktails. Drinking a cocktail is a way for ladies and gentlemen everywhere to keep it classy and get plastered in the process. When offering to make a girl a cocktail at a college party, you stand out. When you stand out (in a good way), you have your in. The following cocktails are perfect recipes to get that in with the ladies. You can make a great tasting drink and you can do it with minimal effort–it’s just up to you to actually close.

Before we begin, you will need a cocktail shaker, which runs around $30. I prefer a three piece shaker because it normally has a built in jigger and strainer, but so long as it is metal and creates a seal, you can get whatever you want.

Now to the drinks.

1.The Bacardi Cocktail

3 oz Bacardi Superior
1.5 oz lime juice
¾ oz grenadine

Combine all the ingredients in a shaker and shake until chilled. Serve with a cherry for a garnish if you feel extra thorough.

This is incredibly simple to make, and thereby almost impossible to fuck up. The drink appeals to anyone who likes to get drunk without tasting the alcohol, since the bitterness of the lime juice and the sweetness of the grenadine mask any strong alcohol flavor. This was one of my personal favorites to make in college, and I have yet to find a girl who does not find this drink absolutely delicious.

2. The Tequila Sunrise

2.5 oz tequila
Some amount of orange juice
Some amount of grenadine

Tequila shots usually end badly. Try this classier way to drink tequila and I guarantee you will be hooked–plus, if you already pregamed a bit, the visual effect of this drink will blow your mind. You may have noticed the only thing I actually measured in this drink is the tequila, and that is because it’s honestly all you need to measure (you don’t want to waste all your alcohol on these girls). Start by filling a glass with a bit of ice, then pour in the tequila. Fill the glass up most of the way with orange juice. Take a spoon and use the back of it to gently pour grenadine down the inside of the glass. The grenadine will billow out into the signature red-orange cloud at the bottom, and your lady guests will think you are a bartending David Blaine.

3. The Cosmo

3 oz vodka
1.5 oz triple sec
1.5 oz lime juice
A healthy pour of cranberry juice

The main reason this drink is considered so stereotypically feminine is basically just because girls love it. Ask any college-aged girl what cocktail she would like, and I guarantee the most common response will be this drink. Combine all the above ingredients into a shaker and shake until chilled. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a slice of lime. If properly executed, this has potential to be an instant panty dropper.

4. The Orange Bloom

3 oz gin
1.5 oz Cointreau
1.5 oz sweet vermouth

Yes, you have to buy a bottle of Cointreau, which can be a bit pricey. This is a long term investment, though, as the bottle will last for a respectable amount of time. Just add all the ingredients, shake, and strain into a martini glass. Your girl will be well on her way down the road to inebriation.

5. Sex On The Beach

3 oz vodka
1.5 oz peach schnapps
Some orange juice
Some pineapple juice

This is a go-to drink for girls and it will no doubt be a common request. Even more ideal for you is that it doesn’t require a shaker. Just pour all the ingredients into a glass with ice and then throw an orange slice on the rim. The key thing here is to have equal parts orange juice and pineapple juice to ensure balance. With the schnapps and vodka, there is more than enough liquor in this drink to pack a punch.

6. Blue Lagoon

3 oz vodka
1.5 oz Blue Curaçao
Some lemonade

This incredibly simple drink plays off of the same principle as the Bacardi Cocktail. The sweetness of the Blue Curaçao contrasts with the bitterness of the lemonade to make a really nice, smooth vodka cocktail. Also, for some reason unbeknownst to me, girls are immediately drawn in by the unusual blue color.

There you have it, gentlemen. With these ridiculously simple cocktails, you can expand your partying to new frontiers. If you concoct all these and still don’t get any action, that’s on you.
