8 Must Watch Football Games This Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving weekend is one of the best weekends of the year for football. From Thursday morning until Sunday night, your eyes should be glued to the TV while you stuff your face with multiple helpings of each meal and pour disturbing amounts of delicious liquid fuel known as beer down your gullet. With so many different games on, it can be difficult to choose which one you should actually be watching. Have no fear, for I have done the hard work for you! These are the games you’ll need to be watching this weekend.

Thursday

Carolina Panthers (10-0) at Dallas Cowboys (3-7)

The Cowboys are currently the laughing stock of the NFL due to their record and the whole “Greg Hardy” thing. But hey, they’ve got Romo back, so that means they are going to the Super Bowl this season (if you believe Cowboys fans on Facebook). Carolina is undefeated. How? I don’t know, but they are bound to lose and I think that they will. Don’t care who is covering Dez, Romo will find him for 120 and 2 TDs. Dallas keeps their playoff hopes alive with a W.

Chicago Bears (4-6) at Green Bay Packers (7-3)

This game only made the list because it’s a historic rivalry, and we all want to know if Rodgers will finally show up and throw the damn ball to Randall Cobb. For fuck’s sake, the guy hauled in 91 balls last year. Why else would I draft him in a PPR? FUCK! Packers win easily. Bears suck.

Friday

Baylor Bears (9-1, 6-1) at TCU Horned Frogs (9-2, 6-2)

Might as well call this one the EMT Bowl with how hampered each team is due to injuries. Baylor will be without Seth Russell and Jarret Stidham, leaving them to their third string QB. And Shock Linwood, Orion Stewart, and Beau Blackshear are also limping around. TCU will be without track star WR Josh Docston and maybe Trevone Boykin. With that being said, both teams can still light up the scoreboard like a Lake Travis/Allen matchup under the Friday night lights. Baylor wins, but it’s close.

Saturday

Ohio State Buckeyes (10-1, 6-1) at Michigan Wolverines (9-2, 6-1)

The Khakis versus the heart attacks. It’s a battle of will versus skill. Ohio State had been hanging on by a thread all season long before finally succumbing to Sparty last weekend, thus putting a big hamper on any playoff plans they might’ve had. Michigan, on the other hand, has far exceeded any expectations for this season — Harbaugh has the blue and maize playing some good football. Gotta go with the hot hand. Harbaugh wins.

Alabama Crimson Tide (10-1, 6-1) at Auburn Tigers (6-5, 2-5)

I liken this matchup to OU-Texas. You can throw the records aside when these two teams get together. Texas did beat OU this year and Cam Newton is going to even be an honorary coach for Auburn. Cam may need to suit up in this one for Auburn to have a chance. On the field, when Bama plays their best football, there is no one in the SEC who can compete with them. It’s harder to run on them than it is to pick up the great white buffalo at 2am. Unfortunately, this one will be over by the second quarter as Bama and Nicky Saban roll to the SEC championship game.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-1) at Stanford Cardinal (9-2, 8-1)

Notre Dame needs a signature win because they really have skated by on a trash schedule outside of their loss to Clemson. Stanford needs it to have any sort of chance at making the playoff (assuming the rest of the teams in front of them completely shit the bed). Don’t really care to watch this game, but I hope Stanford wins. I can’t stand the idea of Lou Holtz getting to watch the Irish in the playoff. So much spit everywhere.

Oklahoma Sooners (10-1, 7-1) at Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-1, 7-1)

Baylor took some of the air out of this matchup by beating Oklahoma State last weekend, but Bedlam is always a barnburner. Last year, the Pokes took a kickoff to the house to send the game into overtime where they eventually won. Both teams need the win in order to secure the Big 12 championship and keep their playoff hopes alive. I think Baker Mayfield and OU dance all over Okie Lite in Stillwater. Big Game Bob waits until the playoffs to choke this year.

Sunday

New England Patriots (10-0) at Denver Broncos (8-2)

I had this on my rough draft before I knew Osweiler was going to be starting. Brady and Co. were still going to beat that Bronco ass even with Peyton — now it just won’t be as sweet for Belichick when they do..
