Jeb Bush May Run For President In 2016

Another Bush in the White House?

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush won’t confirm he’s a candidate for the next presidential race, but he sounded like a White House hopeful Monday, declaring his party in need of leadership.

Bush said he wouldn’t rule out a run in 2016, “but I won’t declare today either.”

I really hope he runs. I want the U.S. history books of the future to read: “President Bush, President Clinton, President Bush, President Obama, President Bush…”

It makes perfect sense for Jeb to run. It’s made sense for a long time, actually. Back when George H. W. Bush was running for reelection, people figured that if any of the Bush boys were going to be president one day, it’d be Jeb.

And don’t mistake that for criticism of Dubya, but he was too much of a partier back in his day. While George was enjoying the life of a fraternity man, Jeb was studying away. It only took Jeb two and a half years to graduate Phi Beta Kappa from University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Latin American Studies.

People expected Jeb to be the president and for George to sort of hang out around the White House and be a screw-up, like Roger Clinton, or Billy Carter, or Ted Kennedy. But instead Dubya proved that he could, in fact, handle the responsibility and was a damn fine GOP president.

Bush faulted both the Republican party and its 2012 presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, for failing to garner more support from Hispanic voters during the last election cycle.

“It’s a gateway. If you set a tone that you don’t want people to be part of your team, they don’t join,” he said.

Would you look at that? I bet you could get support from Hispanic voters, Jeb. You only devoted your entire undergraduate career to studying these issues, in addition to plenty of professional experience as the governor of Florida.

Please run, Jeb. Run to save the GOP. Run for America. Run for all of us who weren’t old enough to vote for your brother and want to know what it feels like to vote for a Bush.

I would vote for him in a second. I just think that people will compare him to his brother too much without looking at his stance on issues. Liberals vote based on emotions and with Dubya’s low approval ratings when he left office, I think they will vote as if it were the same person. We need someone who isn’t going to run on the typical republican platform. Ditch the abortion issue and force economic policy down the democrats throat.

I think Condi Rice would be a really good candidate. She could appeal to the masses and a black woman Republican would totally beat the dems at their own game. It’s not necessarily about ideals anymore its about getting elected.

I am serious. I’m sick of losing. Im down to compromise my ideals to get some red back in to the white house. Elections these days have much more to do with electability and than they do with actual policy anyways.

I agree, and that’s why she will never get elected. Condi is generally unpopular outside conservative circles because of her association with Bush. The media will roast her if she runs.

That’s exactly why we can’t have him in 2016. Regardless of his qualifications, the majority of Americans vote based on emotion, not facts. They won’t accept another Bush in the White House. Rubio/Paul 2016. Also, to the guy who said we need another Eisenhower, are you kidding me? He was a liberal. Reagan was the only conservative president of the 20th and 21st century.

I am sick of this hispandering. Why the FUCK should we waste our time trying to win the votes of a demographic that hates us? Juan McCain spent his whole career supporting amnesty and he still only got a few higher percent of the hisapnic vote than Romney did. The truth is that we will never get over 30% of their vote, and we shouldn’t sacrifice our principles trying to do it.

Mass immigration is ruining this nation and filling it with foreigners who do not respect our customs, our traditions, or our laws. Fuck politically correct neo-cons like Jeb Bush

Cultural consevratism is dying…I’m conservative personally, but I don’t force my views on others. GOP has already started to die off b/c of its stubborn grip on asinine foreign policy and social issues. Lean libertarian or die out.

I was referring to immigration, not issues like abortion or gay marriage. And if the liberals succeed with their immigration plans, it won’t just be cultural conservatism that dies. It will all of conservatism, as the historical Americans are systematically replaced.

Didn’t W get a pretty significant amount of hispanic support both times he ran? As far as I know they actually liked him.

google tells me 35% in 00, 44% in 04…wow, didnt think it was that high

I’m in favor of getting the govt out of all social issues, but that will take some time for the GOP to evolve towards…Even total embracement of minorities won’t help a ton, but would still be a step in the right direction ie a more libertarian GOP. Until then, all half-assed “outreaches” to minorities won’t do much good excep through minorities-as-candidates eg Rubio and Cain (tohugh sadly both are jokes, and more of the same neocon garbage IMO).

Also keep in mind RUBIO IS ONE OF THE FATHERS OF SOPA/PIPA, supporter of regs for banks and other industries, not a free market guy

Well yeah Bush did but they’ve gone further left since then, plus that was largely due to Texas where the Hispanics are already almost 50% Republican, and most importantly even if Romney did get 40% he still would have lost every swing state that he lost anyway. They’re only 9% of the electorate and even if their population increases 1.5x, it’s still not worth sacrificing our values. And I would define cultural conservatism as a lot of things. Social issues like support for traditional marriage, support for American values like meritocracy, and a belief in American exceptionalism. I think it’s more than just social issues basically. But that’s another story

On the other hand, if Romney got even 1.5% more of the white vote, he would have won the election. We have this insane sense of ethnic sadomasochism where we like to put ourselves down and it’s ridiculous. The Republican party is and will be the party of conservative white people. Embrace it or die. (Most of these numbers came from vdare, btw)

The Bush name was destroyed with W, who increased government at every turn, piled on debt, built the national deficit, embraced bailouts and handouts, and created a police state via the DHS which has turned local police forces into military thugs, sending in SWAT teams for shit like medical marijuana. Americans are still largely dumb, but they’re becoming increasingly aware of how pointless Bush’s ridiculous wars and imaginary WMDs are/were, and how dangerous his foreign policy was in general. “Free trade with all nations, entagling alliances with none” – Thomas Jefferson.

Whether he likes it or not, the Bush name will almost certainly preclude Jeb from the nomination, and no doubt the presidency. He may get a lot of momentum because the necons still have a stranglehold on the GOP, but the party is slowly but surely growing tired of neoconservatism, as well it should be. Whether Jeb supports this same neoconservatism as W. or not (clearly he does), it won’t matter. The GOP grassroots will continue to break away from the necon/Rove hold on the party and embrace true conservatism and small govt.

Indeed. I’d rage with Dubya any day of the week but he was a failure as far as governing with actual conservative principles goes.

Would love to see that. I don’t think Rove/the establishment will let that happen. Another neocon will get the nod, Hillary will win, and the dickhead propagandizing GOP establishment will be left wondering why no one wants to vote for more war, just like with Romney/Ryan.

It will take another (inevitable) GOP loss or two…or three…to really force out the establishment and make the party lean libertarian. As they say, necons never learn…their answer is ALWAYS more war, more statism….they have no other playbook.
