Northern Iowa WR Runs Record Shattering 40-time On Pro Day
So, there’s fast, and then there’s blistering-pace, scorched-earth, on par with all-time NFL Combine records fast.
The latter is the kind of fast that Northern Iowa University’s Terrell Sinkfield showcased during a pro day yesterday, held at the University of Minnesota.
Multiple sources, including ESPN, report that the Panther’s WR ran an unfathomable, yet unofficial, time of 4.19 seconds in his second 40-yard dash attempt in front of several NFL Scouts.
Apparently, Sinkfield boasted a cool 4.27 on his first attempt, and was asked to run an unusual third time for scouts’ clarification. Even with a stumble he still managed to post a 4.44.
“I was trying to shoot for a 4.19. I knew it was good when I finished,” Sinkfield told The (St. Paul) Pioneer Press. “The fastest I’ve done [before Monday] was 4.2. I was running 4.3s in high school.”
For those historians out there, this blows away Chris Johnson’s 2008 time of 4.24, the current NFL Combine record. The only difference is that Johnson ran under an electronic timing system, while Sinkfield’s time on the other hand, was manually stopwatched and corroborated by several scouts on site.
Prior to the NFL’s modern era of the combine (electronic scoring was instituted for the 2006 season creating the official/unofficial differentiation), the forty was timed exactly like this kid’s pro day was, so he’s definitely deserving of the heads he’s turning.
His pace still puts him up there with Deion Sanders (4.21), Joey Galloway (4.18) and Ahman Green (4.17), among the“unofficial” fastest times ever witnessed by NFL Scouts.
Yep, hands down, dude is an animal.
While Sinkfield is only listed at 6’1”, obviously undersized for an NFL roster, and we all know that pure speed is in no way an indication of a good all-around football player, you’ve got to admire this guy’s wheels, man.
Sure to result in a jump in his draft day stock, be on the lookout for this burner in the middle rounds. Who knows, maybe he’ll be that dark horse spark for your team this year.

It’s a shame he’s gonna get drafted by the raiders and have a mediocre career.

12 years ago at 4:57 pmI guess you didn’t finish reading the article numb nuts, there were NFL scouts that clocked him at no more than a 4.3. Timed manually as well? Not a chance.
