Braves Rookie Catcher Evan Gattis’ Twitter AVI Is Priceless

Evan Gattis, the Atlanta Braves’ 26-year-old rookie catcher, has had an interesting first week or so in the Major Leagues. Gattis has quite the interesting backstory as well. He walked away from baseball for awhile, despite being supremely talented at it, due to depression and “drug” (see also: marijuana and alcohol) use. His years away from the game weren’t pretty. He admittedly smoked a lot of weed and worked some truly shitty jobs, the worst of which was as a janitor.

So is Gattis ashamed of his past? Embarrassed by it? Hell no! He’s in the big leagues now, he doesn’t give a shit about mistakes once made, he laughs at them, probably gives them the finger too. Gattis finds his questionable past so entertaining that his Twitter AVI is a picture of his old janitor ID card.

Gattis-Avatar

Evan Gattis is truly a shining example of not giving shit, not only because one shouldn’t, but because one doesn’t have to. But when you’re drilling winter ball bombs that terrify Venezuelan locals into calling you “El Oso Blanco” (The White Bear) and then taking Roy Halladay deep for your first major league hit, it’s hard not to do anything but laugh at where your life used to be.

Follow El Oso Blanco and his priceless AVI on Twitter.

See? He’s even entertaining. Yes I am an Atlanta Braves fan, so I may be biased here, but Gattis is quickly becoming one of my favorite players to watch, both on and off the field, in this young 2013 season.

They should think about trading McCann to beef up the bullpen some more when his contract runs out this year. Thats a lot of money freed up when they can pay this kid league minimum for a few years

Love that cocky batting stance, just sticking that chin right out over the plate.
