Al Michaels Arrested, Charged With DUI

Without a doubt, Al Michaels in one of the most well-known sports announcers of all time. He called NBC’s Sunday Night Football for almost twenty years, was the commentator at the United States/Soviet medal round match during the 1980 Winter Olympics (better known as the Miracle on Ice), where he famously exclaimed, “Do you believe in miracles? YES!” and he has done live broadcasts of uncountable other sporting events during his long career.

Well, around 9:30pm on Friday, Al Michaels was stopped for making an illegal U-turn. Normally this wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but Al was trying to pull a fast one on the coppers. He made the U-turn because he was approaching a Santa Monica Police Department DUI checkpoint. Really, Al? I’d expect that from Madden, maybe even Collinsworth, but not you. Seriously, did he not think the police would be suspicious of a driver suddenly deciding to pull a U-ey in the middle of a major thoroughfare?

After five hours in the drunk tank, Michaels was released on his own recognizance. I guess the cops figured if he didn’t show up to court on his scheduled date, June 26th, they’d know where to find him.

They’re like holes in one for golfers. Everybody gets one. If you golf a lot, someday, you’re gonna get that hole in one, no matter how crappy you are. If you drink a lot, someday, you’re gonna get a DUI. It’s just the nature of the game.

^ I’m at a 3:0 Hole in one to DUI ratio currently. Are you saying I’m due for a DUI?

^Is this your way of telling people you have 3 hole in ones? Because no one gives a shit.
