The U.S. Navy Apparently Has A Patch That Makes Reference to Kenny Loggins, It’s Awesome
The USS Freedom, a littoral combat ship of the Freedom class, was recently deployed to Singapore, joining the U.S. 7th Fleet as the United States methodically increases its military presence in and around Asia. The increase has been steady and most experts agree that an increased presence in Asia is a top American priority, and should have been for years.
Oh, wait, this isn’t about naval deployments. Go read about that in the real news. This is about the greatest military arm patch I’ve ever seen or even heard of ever existing.
BBC News Asia recently did a story on the Freedom’s arrival in Singapore, and randomly (though I’m pretty sure it was on purpose) caught a glimpse of one man’s glorious uniform.
I’m not all that familiar with how military uniforms work, and I couldn’t make out any unit designation other than the words “Special Agents,” but it doesn’t really matter. This patch is ridiculous, and awesome.
I was so enamored with the Kenny Loggins reference that I didn’t realize that the patch was actually also referencing the FX hit show Archer. Great stuff.

13 years ago at 5:02 pmAviators are generally a laid back bunch of guys who makes custom patches for their flight suits for their units. It’s from a helicopter squadron is all I can make out of it. This unit is definitely awesome though.
13 years ago at 5:04 pmHSM-73 is what their squadron patch reads and as someone who wears this uniform daily it never ceases to amaze me the kind of custom patches they let us get away with sometimes, but I have to admit this is not in the top of the patches I have seen.
13 years ago at 5:41 pm^ Good point. Some of the guys in my squadron have done some ridiculous patches… but yeah, if anyone cares HSM-73 is a unique unit flying that R sea king. They do sub defense, surface defense, and SAR. Basically the only blackhawk variant that has FLIR, ESM, and hellfire missiles.. <Yes, they do have hellfires.
13 years ago at 5:47 pmyeah bacon clearly hasn’t seen too many patches. imo even the “two in the pink, one in the drink” api patch is better
13 years ago at 6:35 pm^I was in that class. Got quite a few comments for it, one of them being to not wear it again. Photo of patch here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151144780488041&set=pb.240279363040.-2207520000.1366863408.&type=3&theater
13 years ago at 10:15 pmbest api patch i’ve seen, …although that’s equivalent to fastest retard in the special olympics at the end of the day. doubt too many people on here will get it. are you at corpus?
