Sig Ep At Virginia Tech Opens $5 Million House, Among Nicest In Nation
Virginia Tech’s Greek Village — called Oak Lane — is currently undergoing an expansion project, Phase IV, in which new fraternity and sorority houses are being constructed in addition to the previous 18 from the first three phases. The first house was recently completed and ready for move-in at the beginning of the 2013 spring semester — the house of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
It’s ridiculous. It’s $5,000,000 worth of ridiculous, actually.
Michael Cocke, President of Sigma Phi Epsilon, explained that both residents of the house and other members take full advantage of the multiple study lounges and conference rooms. According to Cocke, Virginia Tech contributed $3 million to the house, and the alumni of Sig Ep contributed $2 million to build the house.
You know Mike Cocke’s got a sweet presidential setup in there, too. “Hey, you wanna head upstairs and check out Mike Cocke’s chambers?” Who could say no to that? Hell, I’d follow Mike Cocke upstairs.
3 MM from the school, huh? Unbelievable. My school tried to purchase our house from us to use the land for some worthless academic nonsense and subsequently drive our dicks out of town, and they lowballed the shit out of us. I’m amazed by the university support at VT.
“The design is very intentional and allows for a lot of space for interaction,” said Kenneth Belcher, senior associate director for housing services. The new house is home to 35 brothers from the Sigma Phi Epsilon chapter and features several study lounges, a conference room, a comfortable living room with a Hokie stone fireplace, and a large kitchen and dining area for shared meals.
Take a look at some photos:
It’s also adjacent to a golf course. Buncha assholes.
So, I ask you, which other houses compete with this one?

damn, my brothers did well
12 years ago at 9:54 amBalanced Man – NF
12 years ago at 9:56 am^ apparently not a balanced man chapter. one of the few remaining
12 years ago at 9:58 amlot more traditional chapters than you think, buddy.
12 years ago at 9:59 amA balanced man chapter would never get $2 million out of alumni. I’d say about 1/3 of the chapters are still traditional no matter what they’re registered as
12 years ago at 11:45 amThat place will look great with puddles of beer, empty cans, and old pizza boxes covering it.
12 years ago at 9:56 amLooks nice, but both new houses at Bama plus Bama ATO still reign as my favorites.
12 years ago at 9:56 amLook up the new Alabama Sigma Chi house, Dorn. Just feast your eyeballs on it.
12 years ago at 9:57 amJust feasted. It’s pretty ridiculous, too.
12 years ago at 10:00 am^^

12 years ago at 10:38 am^ That’s not what I hear, pal.
12 years ago at 11:30 amlooks an aweful lot like a slightly new version of Auburn’s AGR house.
12 years ago at 3:07 pmFuck gayTO
12 years ago at 9:58 amNo fucking way their president’s name is Mike Cocke. That in and of itself is a TFM. Also that house is ridiculous. Frat on, gentlemen.
12 years ago at 9:58 am“Hey there, would you like to meet Mike Cocke?”
It’s too easy.
12 years ago at 10:05 am“You spilled your beer all over mike cocke!”
12 years ago at 10:25 am“Is Mike Cocke invited?”
12 years ago at 10:33 amI noticed Mike Cocke had a sperry on his head.
12 years ago at 11:40 amMike Cocke just threw up all over the couch!

12 years ago at 11:07 pmDamn Proud, HFF
12 years ago at 9:58 amwow I can believe this
12 years ago at 11:38 amHoly fuck that’s impressive
12 years ago at 9:58 amI’ve got a buddy in SigEp at VT, and he is so pissed about graduating that he’s considering staying an extra semester just so he can use the house. Can’t say I blame him after seeing this.
12 years ago at 10:20 amLooks very Jeffersonian though. Just another sign that all hokies really wish they got into UVa.
12 years ago at 11:40 amThey’re still fraternities at UVA?
12 years ago at 12:07 pm^ several of the largest fraternities in the nation were founded at UVA. Laps.
12 years ago at 2:14 pm^^ They’re is the contraction of they are, not there are. Add a few extra laps.
12 years ago at 2:26 pmDamn right they were, AEKDB Brethren.
12 years ago at 2:52 pm^ AEKDB.
12 years ago at 3:07 pmYeah and then their gay Pike (literally, lives with his “partner” much younger Pike) Dean of Students banned pledgeship. So… yeah, are there still fraternities at UVA?
12 years ago at 7:27 pm@Virginia Gentleman, Not necessarily true. Most of the kids I know that are Hokies love the school and wouldn’t want to go anywhere else (most choose to go to Tech over UVA because engineering/architecture/hard sciences have a better reputation). However the greek system at UVA is better than Va Tech so it wouldn’t surprise me if a solid percentage of Greek Hokies are actually UVA rejects.
I’ve always said if you combine the best elements of UVA (frattier college, hotter girls, better campus, strong school academically) with Virginia Tech (better football tradition, more passionate fanbase, better parties, better downtown bars- I’m sorry the corner fucking blows compared to downtown Blacksburg) you would have the ultimate SEC/TFM school.
12 years ago at 12:06 am^Nailed it. I was raised to hate UVA, as were thousands of other Hokies, I didn’t apply to UVA and I think VT has been awesome. Maybe if UVA had good tailgates and a football team that wasn’t a bunch of pussies then cool people would be more interested. All I see when I watch the Hokies give UVA the dick on the field is a bunch of whining bitches. It’s been 9 years….you’re no threat.
12 years ago at 9:53 amThe new house shows that the university supports efforts to make greek life at VT more like the SEC, but it’s not a greek school and probably won’t be until they finish the majority of the new expansion project and get better IFC. If your fraternity isn’t in deep shit at VT then you’re not good. SPE and SAE are always in trouble, and undoubtably the best two.
Sweet Jesus.
