Car Turned Over At 1,000-Person U of Akron Rager, Police Ask Students To Identify Perps
It was your standard beginning-of-the-year college party — 1,000 people in attendance, beer bottles thrown at cops, a car turned over, smoke grenades and tear gas deployed, riot gear, etc. Just the usual. Nothing crazy. Well, I guess the university administration and local police department got all bent out of shape about it, and they responded by enlisting the help of the student body to bring justice to those responsible for the vandalism.
The Akron Police Department is currently gathering photos, videos, and any other pertinent information to help narrow down the suspects. The following letter was emailed to every student from the university, asking for help in identifying the perps.
Party gets out of control on Sumner Street The Akron Police Department is investigating a large party in the 400 block
of Sumner Street that occurred Saturday night. By midnight, the party
swelled to nearly a thousand people. Several of the party-goers started
kicking and throwing beer bottles and other items at a parked car on the
street, before tipping the car over onto its roof.Multiple units from the Akron Police Department and the University of
Akron Police Department were dispatched to the area. Officers were being
pelted with beer bottles and cans. A shift commander on scene gave the
order to disperse to the crowd of partiers. Shortly after the second command
to disperse was given, officers suited up in riot gear and deployed smoke
then tear gas.By 2:00am, the crowd of party-goers had dispersed.
The Akron Police Department plans to use the video footage taken by
individuals and posted on social media sites to make arrests. Those
individuals could face charges of inciting to riot, rioting and destruction of
property. If those individuals involved are University of Akron students,
they will additionally be referred to Student Judicial Affairs for University
sanctioning. The Akron Police Department will have officers out in full force over the
next several weekends to combat any such behaviors or large parties. The Akron Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying
anyone in the following video or pictures involved in the damage to the car.
If you know someone in the video or photos, please call the Akron Police
Department, Gang Unit at (330) 375-2911.

If you get in an auto accident, be sure to get qualified mechanic to preform the repair. A botched repair job can cause all sorts of problems!!!

12 years ago at 8:12 amFor the official record,
12 years ago at 8:50 pmUofA is about as NF as you can get, after MAYBE DeVry, and that’s still a push.
I’ll set the probable number of UofA Greeks at this party at an over/under of 3. And they’re probably TKEs who have been kicked out of a school that everyone gets accepted to.
The images sent by APD are of two of the biggest dweebs I can imagine. Not sure on the identities, but they look like the kind of nerds who would run out of a house after a group of guys flip a car so that they can get some exposure. Random rooks if you ask me.
This is asinine because people who have no affiliation with Greek life at UofA get the attention of cops that crack down on???? You guessed it, Greek Life.
Although, killing a Greek Life that already sucks doesn’t really matter.
Thanks for the rundown, Bub.

12 years ago at 8:56 pmMore like a 1000 GDI’s. No one in greek life was involved in this stupid rager, which will somehow give us greeks consequences.
