University of Alabama’s Costa Greekfest Once Again Raises Boatloads Of Money For Charity

Raging and raising money are two of the things Greeks are best at, so it makes sense that the largest Greek life community in the country, at the University of Alabama, recently raised a whole lot of money for charity…by partying their asses off.

Costa Greekfest at the University of Alabama, a benefit concert organized by University of Alabama Greek Council and Costa Sunglasses, has been going on for five years now, and every year the amount of money raised has been humongous, and every cent of it has gone to charity. 2013′s incarnation of a bunch of Bama Greeks blacking out for the less fortunate while A-List musical acts perform was the same old story. Lots of fun, lots of money. On August 23rd Wiz Khalifa, Dispatch, and Mother Funk played for approximately 10,300 attendees. The event raised approximately $100,000 for UA Greek Relief (benefitting the 2011 Tuscaloosa tornado victims and damages) and The Billfish Foundation.

As you can see from the pictures, it looked like a great time for even better causes.

Funny, CNN didn’t send any reporters down for that one. People love dirty laundry.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard bad press about UA….especially from ESPN. But, that Costa party looks legit. The SEC is, in fact, the super conference.

Wish my school would do this. Unfortunately, our school’s office of fraternity and sorority life would have a fit if we proposed this idea. While companies can throw charity events with open bars where the patrons really only care about making an appearance and getting hammered, apparently a group of college students throwing a similar event would be a bad look, considering there’s alcohol. Really is a shame.

At my school, if your “greek event” doesn’t include frozen yogurt, n1gletts, or arts and crafts IFC will buttfuck you.
