Patagonia Teams Up With New Belgium Brewing And Releases Its Own Beer
2013 marks a big year for Patagonia, the outdoor clothing company whose clothes many of us enjoy wearing. This year, Patagonia turns forty and they’re celebrating in an awesome way. In cooperation with New Belgium Brewing, the Colorado based maker of craft beers such as Fat Tire, Patagonia will be releasing its own beer.
It makes sense for the two companies to collaborate when you really think about it. They’re both incredibly pro-environment, and not in the annoying hippie way. The beer, called California Route (after a section of Mount Fitz Roy in Patagonia which was first climbed by the company’s founder, Yvon Chouinard), will be an organic lager. Knowing New Belgium like I do, it’ll probably taste pretty damn good.
Even if you’re not into craft beer, which you should be, this is definitely something to try. It’s a combination of two things you’re probably a fan of: beer and good clothing. Put the two together and it’s a capitalistic love story, and as you all know, capitalism is pretty fucking frat. Plus, look at the can design. That just looks cool.
Unfortunately, the beer will only be available along the West Coast and in Colorado for the most part. However, you’ll also be able to find it in Chicago, Boston, and New York City. It should be hitting the shelves later this month, and if you can, you should try it. As Hunter S. Thompson said, “Good people drink good beer.”

Glad to hear Fratagonia
12 years ago at 12:01 pmYou’re simply paying for the brand.
12 years ago at 12:09 pmHowever, that does not mean I won’t be buying this as soon as it hits a store near me.
Good goin’ Fratagonia.
Chicago doesn’t deserve this concoction.
12 years ago at 1:00 pm^Your comment was unpopular and I hope you feel awful about it.
12 years ago at 2:35 pmI also don’t know how to use the reply button apparently. So now I feel even more awful about myself.
12 years ago at 3:10 pmStop calling it “Fratagonia”.
12 years ago at 1:23 pmsays the guy with the word “FRATurday” in his name……
12 years ago at 2:18 pmI made the account three years ago. It was before people tried fitting “frat” into every word and brand.
12 years ago at 2:29 pm^People have been adding “frat” to words forever. Plus, you sound like a hipster.
12 years ago at 2:34 pmForever is a real loose term we are throwing around here. I’m not arguing I was the first to do it. It’s just that it has gotten fairly out of control.
12 years ago at 2:47 pmif you dont weave at least one “frat” into every sentence you might as well kill yourself
12 years ago at 11:10 pmOrganic lager? What the actual fuck.
12 years ago at 1:40 pmI still trust New Belgium to make sure it’s delicious
12 years ago at 2:14 pmWas anyone else really hoping that the beers would come with a patagonia jacket style goose down koozie? And FUCK YOU rowdy gentelman, that is my idea.
12 years ago at 2:02 pmA few folks on Untappd got their hands on this stuff almost three weeks ago- reviews look pretty good
12 years ago at 2:06 pmHmm, the ability to excrete Patagonia from my body is FaF.
12 years ago at 2:49 pmYou know I do.
12 years ago at 3:04 pmAnd so the craft beer revolution continues
