Ambulance Stolen In Panama City Beach, Spring Breakers Suspected
We all have plenty of stories from our days of committing drunken shenanigans during spring break. One story most people cannot tell, however, is stealing an emergency vehicle just for the hell of it. That’s exactly what happened in the spring break paradise of Panama City Beach on Friday night.
According to local news reports, paramedics had just returned from a call when they decided to go back into their station for a little break, carelessly leaving their ambulance unlocked and running. About twenty minutes later, another emergency call came in. When paramedics went to respond, they discovered that their ambulance was nowhere to be found.
The ambulance was discovered about ten miles away in downtown Panama City Beach on Saturday after searchers were tipped off of its location by a local.
According to officials, the theft would be considered a federal offense and they are investigating the incident.
This is not the first time this has happened in recent years. Bay County commissioner Mike Thomas had the following to say about another spring break ambulance theft.
From WJHG:
It did happen one time years ago during spring break I believe, unfortunately at that time somebody was on a call and they, I believe went down to the beach and somebody stole that off the beach.
While officials cannot confirm any direct ties between the incident and the large swell of crowds brought about by spring break, we can only imagine that some drunken idiot saw an opportunity to avoid walking all the way downtown and took it. Can’t blame him, honestly.
