Bullshit Study Claims Using Twitter Makes You More Likely To Cheat

Chalk Twitter up as another thing that a bullshit study has claimed is bad for you, at least in the dating sense. According to a recent TIME article, “People who are active on Twitter are more likely to get involved in the types of confrontations that may eventually lead to infidelity and divorce.”

I read “studies” like these and I honestly wonder who runs around throwing grant money at all of these so-called researchers. I mean, they’re probably just trying to get their great white buffaloes to break up with boyfriends who have strong Twitter games.

Beyond their motive of advancing humanity’s understanding of how our world works, the study seemed pretty seriously flawed from a technical standpoint.

First off, they used a survey to gather their information. Surveys suck, because they hinge on the honesty of the person being surveyed. Ask yourself this question: how many times have you lied to somebody in person to make yourself seem cooler? If your answer is anything more than “never,” imagine how much larger you would claim your dick is if all you had to do was type a number into an answer field.

Another major problem is that the researchers’ sample was only 581 Twitter users, and Twitter has more than 554,000,000 users. They barely had more than .000001 percent of Twitter users answer their surveys, and now they are claiming that we are all cheating assholes for retweeting pictures of puppies and drunkenly tweeting at the celebrities people think we look like.

All I know is that I’m not going to stop following my favorite porn stars just because it may screw up a relationship I may eventually find myself stuck in. Lisa Ann is a nice lady, and she deserves my follow.
