Five SDSU Delta Chis Bike Across The Country For Honduran Orphans

Whenever critics of fraternities try to attack us and our way of life, I like to remind them of all the good we do for others. Five men from South Dakota State University, all Delta Chis, are a perfect example of how much we are capable of assisting those in need.

On May 13th, just a few days after they graduate, these five brothers, Mike Amen, Ben Ruggeberg, Chris Gould, Shaheed Shihan, and Brett Citrowske, will begin an epic journey. No, they’re not going on a post-graduation, booze-fueled road trip. Instead, these men are embarking on an adventure to help those who are less fortunate than they are. They are going to bike across each of the lower 48 states.

You might be asking yourself why they’d do such a thing. After all, that’s going to be one hell of a trip. These guys realize that, but it doesn’t bother them. See, they’ve got a pretty good reason to do this. They’re trying to raise money, as well as awareness, to aid orphans in some of the poorest areas of Honduras.

By the end of their journey, which will take them over 10,000 miles across our country, the five Delta Chis hope to raise $100,000 to build a new school for a Honduran orphanage. They’ll brave extreme heat, thunderstorms, and other hazards that come with riding a bike 60 miles per day for six months along their journey.
