Incredible D-Day Photos Set On Top Of Their Modern Locations

As an American born in the late 1980s, it’s sometimes difficult to really fathom the impact an event such as World War II had on many communities throughout Europe. On June 6, the world will remember D-Day, the first day of Allied invasion of Europe. It was the largest seaborne invasion in history and remains one of the biggest strategic Nazi losses of the war.

To give you some perspective on what it must have been like, and where many of us could very well have been had we been born a few generations earlier, check out these composite locations pictures of WWII set over modern day photos of the same locations. Stunning stuff.

Related, for World War/history buffs out there, the History Channel is doing a documentary called The World Wars that has been airing recently. Very interesting if you’re into this kind of stuff.
