Costa’s Campus Ambassador Program Will Make You Want To Join

Earlier this year, Costa brought its Campus Ambassador program to eight schools in the Southeast and Texas. All ambassadors were Greek, and they represented Florida, Florida State, Texas, Texas A&M, Clemson, Auburn, Virginia Tech, and LSU. What were some of the benefits of being an ambassador, you ask? Tons of free Costa gear, the chance to go on the fishing trip of a lifetime, and the opportunity to plan a Costa College Film Party.

The reps were responsible for finding the venues — usually their favorite college bars — and getting people to show up. Costa took care of everything else, like providing funding, handing out free gear, raffling off Yeti coolers and pairs of glasses, and screening some of their badass fishing films. The reps who knew what they were doing usually had live music after the films. I’m not sure I know of a single member of the Greek community who wouldn’t want to attend an event like this. Alcohol? Check. Free gear? Check. Live music? Check. New pair of Costas? Check.

Costa also randomly picked a person and a friend from the total attendees of all parties to join in on the fun in Guatemala for a fishing trip, where they stayed at the Casa Vieja Lodge. Place is legit. The two campus reps who had the most successful parties based upon attendance, venue, creativity, and entertainment also got to go on the trip. The two dudes who won were both Sigma Chis — one from Florida and one from Virginia Tech. They lived it up for four days, fishing on the 40-foot Sportfish “Rum Line.” They caught 20 sailfish and a ton of dolphins, and I assume they also drank heavily.

I can’t think of a better way to spend a four-day fishing trip — or four days in general — than by partying with other Greeks and the Costa crew off the shores of Guatemala. As far as college campus rep programs go, I feel like Costa has really upped the ante. Seriously, I’m pretty fucking disappointed that I’m just finding out about this program now, especially considering there is a Campus Ambassador literally in my backyard — I’m looking at you, Texas. How I didn’t get an invite to the party is beyond me. For future reference, if any of you Campus Ambassadors have the opportunity to plan another party, let us know here at TFM. I’m sure we can give you a little nudge in the attendance factor, and hell, some of us just might be crazy enough to show up.
