Partying with trophies has been a long-standing tradition that has recently come into public light. From Phil drinking $40,000 worth of wine from the Claret Jug to the amount of alcohol, sex, and drugs the Stanley Cup has participated in, it’s really a mystery how some of these trophies have survived as long as they have.

Of course, you have instances like this:

Good thing Sergio Ramos doesn’t get paid to use his hands.

Now, news out of Germany is that the World Cup has been damaged.

From NBC Sports:

When Germany returned home with the trophy, wild celebrations ensued in Berlin, complete with a dramatic unveiling of Philipp Lahm holding the prize aloft.

But somewhere amidst all the jumping, frolicking and merriment-making, the Cup sustained a bit of damage. In fact, a small piece of it is now missing, as the German Football Federation president president Wolfgang Niersbach revealed.

This is why we can’t have nice things, Germany.

No one knows who specifically chipped the trophy, but specialists are working endlessly to fix it.

The trophy itself is actually a replica made of bronze and plated in gold. Since 1974, the winning country has had its name engraved on the World Cup, and then it is given a replica to take home. The real World Cup, which is made of solid gold, is kept under strict security by FIFA. Still, the chipped trophy is the trophy Germany will have on display for years to come.

To be fair it’s a replica of the Cup because the third world soccer playing countries can’t be trusted.
