Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo Delivers On Promise To Cancer Patient With An Awesome Gesture

Normally, good stories and the Chicago Cubs do not go hand in hand. Much to the chagrin of some of the commentators, I am not a Cubs fan and I normally wouldn’t give a shit what news is coming out of Wrigley. However, I have always hoped that my team would acquire Anthony Rizzo to man first.

Not only does Rizzo deliver on the field, but he delivers off of it, too. Mike Kasallis, 22, is a die-hard Cubs fan who has been diagnosed with leukemia. He recently got the chance to meet with Rizzo, who is a survivor of Hodgkin’s lymphoma himself. When they met, Kasallis made one simple request that Rizzo agreed to do.

Rizzo recently met 22-year-old Mike Kasallis, a 22-year-old Cubs fan who was diagnosed with Leukemia. Kasallis requested the first baseman to launch a home run for him. Rizzo, a survivor of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, agreed to the fan’s wish and told him to watch the game after he hit one, when he’d deliver a gesture at home plate.

Rizzo didn’t just deliver once–he had two dingers in Tuesday night’s game. And, as promised, he delivered on the special gesture to Mike both times. Check it out for yourself.
