North Carolina Suspends 4 Football Players After Hazing Allegations
After an alleged hazing incident that left walk-on freshman wide receiver Jackson Boyer with a concussion, Larry Fedora and the North Carolina Tar Heels have suspended four players for their opening game against Liberty University. Starting cornerbacks Desmond Lawrence and Brian Walker, along with backups M.J. Stewart and Donnie Miles, were suspended for violation of team rules.
From Yahoo:
“We are aware of an incident involving members of the UNC football team that took place earlier this month,” Kevin Best, North Carolina’s assistant athletic director for communications, said in a statement to Yahoo Sports on Tuesday. “We take this allegation seriously and the University is conducting a thorough review.”
The alleged incident happened earlier this month at the Aloft hotel in Chapel Hill, where the hazing escalated to full-blown assault. Apparently beating the shit out of a fellow teammate until he loses consciousness is a violation of “team rules.”
Fedora told reporters on Wednesday that he’s unaware of the status of the school investigation, but he does not expect further suspensions.
If no further action is taken, Fedora can breathe a sigh of relief. Having a depleted secondary against Liberty is one thing, but dealing with it against a high offensive power like Clemson would be disastrous.

10 years ago at 12:22 pmThese players beat a teammate and got away with a suspension while there are chapters across the country getting their charter pulled for underage drinking.
