College Station Furniture Store Promised Free Furniture To Customers If Aggies Won By 10 Or More, Oops

Ashley Furniture in College Station’s recent promotion regarding the Texas A&M-South Carolina game Thursday night didn’t go quite as planned. The promotion was that if the Aggies beat the Cocks by 10 points or more, customers would get their furniture for free. Whoops. The Aggies choked those chickens into a 52-28 final score, meaning that Ashley Furniture is on the hook for whatever customers spent during the store’s 12-day kickoff event.

If you’ve ever been to a furniture store within 40 miles of campus during move-in week, you know that the people who run it will probably be just short a Wall Street CEO’s yearly salary this month, thanks to that promotion. I can see this turning into Texas A&M students picking up the checks for the furniture their parents bought and immediately converting them into cold, hard booze, like the world’s reserve currency just became shitty, domestic vodka.

Apparently, promotions like these are pretty common, and stores can take out insurance policies so they aren’t completely boned when hundreds of thousands in merchandise is suddenly theirs to pay for, which makes sense to anyone who wants to stay in business for more than a hot second. The Gamecocks were the favorite for last night’s game, but apparently they left their will to win in the locker room. It looks as if you bought furniture in College Station these last few weeks, you’re in for a hell of a refund check to use for “academic supplies” this semester.
