(UPDATED) 20-Year-Old Student Arrested In Connection With Threats At The University Of Alabama
UPDATE: An earlier version of this story implied that Dakota Timm was the author behind the original YouTube post that sparked a frenzy on the Alabama campus. That information was incorrect. It has been updated.
A student who sent threatening text messages pretending to be the author of an alarming YouTube comment has been arrested, according to AL.com.
Dakota Timm, a 20-year-old Pike from Virginia Beach, Va., was charged with obstructing governmental operations for sending these texts. The original YouTube comment, posted by the anonymous author Timm claimed to be, placed Old Row and New Row on high alert and forced one girls’ dorm to go into a lockdown for nearly an hour:
Rumors spread around campus Sunday night that an attack was imminent, or that one had already happened. Students feared that a group of men with weapons in Joker masks were breaking into Tutwiler Hall, an all-girls dorm, and that one girl had already been strangled. Both are ludicrous thoughts, but when nobody tells you it isn’t happening, you tend to believe everything you hear.
Students who have been banking off these threats and taking class days off won’t get penalized, the school administration said Tuesday, but they will have to make up the work they missed. So, if you opted to take an early fall break, may as well just push it through the end of the week and deal with all the make-up work later.
Authorities continue to investigate what they call a “serious” threat.

11 years ago at 11:27 amFalse..The person who posted the youtube comments under the name Authur pendragon has not been caught. This kid sent a bunch a fake text messages telling people he was Authur pendragon and to send a member of a fraternity or sorority to some random warehouse or else… get your facts straight.

11 years ago at 12:28 pmno YOU get your facts straight!!!! he didnt send a bunch of texts to people. he sent 1 text message to his friend as a joke and before he sent the second text saying it was him, his friend had already contacted the police. it was a stupid mistake but is now being blamed for everything else that happened and that is completely unfair. this article is completely wrong and i advise you to stop spreading rumors and stop believing everything you read. you look stupid.

11 years ago at 11:54 amCool hair BRO. Fucking GEED
11 years ago at 11:58 amThis information is not accurate… Read any article, he is not related to the initial threat. I know him personally. He sent a text jokingly to a girl he knew, 5 mins later texted her saying it was him but she had already called the cops.
11 years ago at 12:11 pmAs a student, this is a very upsetting post. UAPD has given statements saying he is NOT connected to the threats on YouTube. He sent texts out pretending to be the original guy. Get your facts straight and take this down
11 years ago at 12:24 pmThe article says multiple times that he was pretending to be the guy who left the YouTube comments.
