From the looks of this, only a pulse is required to gain admission to Texas Tech. I have a brother in fifth grade that could answer all of these questions. Fucking ridiculous
Only a pulse is required at pretty much every university outside of the top 50. “Going to college” is not an accomplishment. More often than not it’s just idiots racking up a shitload of debt to either drop out or study something worthless like psychology or communications or marketing.
Let’s not compare Marketing to real degrees like Computer Science and Physics. I will likely get lapped hard for this one, but sorry that I’m not sorry.
All you morons who think marketing is not a real degree and that anyone off the street can do it,is woefully ignorant and today’s job market. Any credible university would require you to understand data analytics, statistics, brand management, and finance to get into the door of any reputable company. And please let me confess I am a business finance major, NOT a marketing major. And if you want to start your own business, you have a lot of difficulty selling your business plan to investors without having a sophisticated marketing plan to go with it.
Yeah I agree, pretty ridiculous. Although, I did get my degree from Texas Tech in May in economics and finance and now I’m a stock broker doing exactly what I studied in college. I guarantee you that if you went to majority of universities out there that you would get the same outcome, and frankly, like most of the media today, I’m sure they chose a fraction of their input to sway the point they are trying to get across.
while Texas Tech is far from being a sophisticated academic powerhouse (i believe it is a third tier school), i suspect that the responses to these questions would be the same on most college campuses in the U.S.
This goes beyond lack of historical knowledge. These people are absolutely fucking retarded. My jaw dropped when no one knew who we gained our independence from or when… Seriously? Fuck. I’m mad.
You’re an idiot. Current law student here, and you’re citing the February 2014 bar passage rates. Almost no one takes the February bar, and those results don’t carry any weight. The July ’13 bar—the most recent one that matters—has Tech Law’s bar passage rate at 6th in the state. The law school is terrible and does not make up for the idiots in this video.
Part of me wants to think that they asked tons of people these questions and were only able to single out a few idiots, but it is texas tech so I’m not so sure.
Fuck you, Hank Moody! You’re the moron…how’s this from a Harvard grad? You probably think they’re really smart, don’t you?
Last week, ten students interviewed on Harvard’s campus didn’t know who Christopher Columbus was.
In that light, the statement below may not be so surprising.
Harvard educated First Lady Michelle Obama recently informed attendees of a naturalization ceremony that our Founding Fathers weren’t born in America. (Say what?)
The ceremony for 50 new U.S. citizens was held at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. During her speech, referring to the Declaration of Independence, she said:
“It’s amazing that just a few feet from here, where I’m standing, are the signatures of the 56 Founders who put their names on a Declaration that changed the course of history, and like the 50 of you, none of them were born American… “they became American”.
Did she actually mean that those who signed the Declaration of Independence and participated in the drafting of the Constitution were not born in America? Benjamin Franklin was born in Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and James Madison were born in Virginia. John Adams was born in Massachusetts. Only 8 of the 56 were not born in America.
Surely she knew this? But, then again, maybe not. After all, she is a Harvard graduate, isn’t she?
Either way, I’d feel better if someone at the White House level knew about fact checking the history books … oh, wait, are those even allowed in schools and public institutions these days?
The First Lady didn’t say the Founding Fathers were not born in America. She said, “none of them were born American”. They were born in the 13 colonies which would later form the United States of America.
“What Michelle Obama was communicating on that occasion was that the Founding Fathers were not born into a fully formed and established America with its own history, customs, culture, and values, as modern American children are; they were born into a very different world as British subjects in a colonial empire, and they chose to seek new opportunities and lives for themselves by transforming their world into something distinctive (through the establishment of a new nation) — just as modern immigrants born outside America choose to transform their worlds by opting to leave their homelands for the United States and seek new lives through becoming Americans.”
The First Lady did not say “not born in America”, she said “Not born American”. You might advance your argument (although you have none), if you learned to read more accurately. It’s not hard, you know. It’s a basic requirement.
That’s why I hate videos like this. It doesn’t matter if 99% of the people they ask are well informed–the people that make this kind of shit already have an agenda and they’re going to get the result they want one way or another. So they splice together the handful of retarded answers they got and then act like it’s some sort of damning social commentary.
It doesn’t matter what they splice together, every person who lives in the U.S. should be able to answer these questions. It’s pretty sad people that take a citizenship test to live in this country know more about its history and government than any one of these kids… Bottom line, we are fucked!
Your name makes be wat to headbutt concrete, but I will agree. It doesn’t matter what the statistics are, no COLLEGE student should have a problem with these questions.
“who is the vice president…is that a trick questions?”

11 years ago at 10:44 amThat guy probably owns every Reagan/Bush ’84 hat/shirt combo imaginable too. Fucking ignoramus.

11 years ago at 1:06 pmGoing to college not being an accomplishment is liberals making up excuses for being worthless in the job market.
11 years ago at 10:16 pmYes, because marketing, what introduces and promotes products to the market for literally EVERY business, is worthless. You sir are a retard.
11 years ago at 3:30 amYeah every business uses marketing, but anyone with any major can do it. This makes it worthless
11 years ago at 8:18 pmBingo. If it’s something anybody off the street can grasp, should it be a major?
11 years ago at 9:23 amI’d love to see someone off the street walk into a marketing job interview.
11 years ago at 2:40 pmI guarantee the Grandex marketing employee didn’t major in marketing.
11 years ago at 4:22 pmor perhaps computer science and physics- right, nagger_rich?

11 years ago at 2:46 pmThis is sad and embarrassing. Put your goddamn smartphones down, get off Facebook and Instagram and fucking pay attention.

11 years ago at 11:11 amYet our law school has a higher ABA pass rate than any other law school in Texas

11 years ago at 11:21 amThey asked a bunch of people. My friends got asked and got them all right. They just took the people who got them right out the video.
11 years ago at 12:32 pmI want to believe you, but I don’t. Texas Tech is a retard breeding ground
