BREAKING: Three Shot By Gunman In Florida State University Library

Several minutes ago we were made aware of a shooting on the campus of Florida State University. Early reports state that two people were shot in the university’s Strozier Library and the school has locked down the dormitories and a second campus library.

Students have been tweeting pictures, reports, and condolences throughout the last hour.

A YouTube video has already emerged of students huddled between rows of bookshelves. A man can be heard speaking over the intercom, announcing a shooting in the library and requesting students to stay put and only contact authorities should they have a victim or valuable information.

There are conflicting reports on the status of the gunman. Some, such as FSUNews.com, are reporting that the gunman is in police custody. However, some social media users claim he was shot and killed by police.

CNN International has already interviewed an eye witness to the shooting.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims. We will update this article as more information becomes available.

***UPDATE 3:27a.m. CT***

CNN is reporting a third person was shot in the library. They have also confirmed that the gunman was shot and killed by campus police.

    Yes, i just registered just to comment, but I need to share my story. I left Stroizer library about 5 or so minutes before i heard gunshots on the way back to my place, i was walking down a very long hill, at the top i heard gunshots, at the bottom of the hill i saw a large police force of FSUPD cop cars flying around the corner, one pulled aside and told me i need to seek shelter immediately. I am safe and i am glad no lives were lost. God bless FSU.

      Thank you for the support guys, Although i wasn’t litterally there, it’s the thought of that if i left a few minutes later i could have been involved considering that i was on the first floor. In the end, I am safe, and there are no deaths confirmed. Tragic, yes. But not losing any of my fellow FSU students tonight is certainly way better than a win on the football field any day.     I was also at Stroz tonight and it was definitely an eye-opening tragedy. I was just released after being moved to the Bellamy building for questioning. All other things aside, pray for FSU.

    Have a couple of friends at FSU, one of them was in the library when it happened, thank God she is ok. Hope this guy rots… The fact that this is a regular occurrence pisses me off… Prayers for FSU tonight.

      Talking to my friend at FSU, and she said she was 100 ft away from the shooter, and that if she hadn’t run, she probably would would’ve been a victim. Thankful to God that she wasn’t hurt, but I’m still praying for the 2 that were hurt. Keep the whole campus in your prayers. I can’t imagine what would drive someone to do this…
