Here Is A List Of The Highest Paid Coaches In The SEC

Last month, USA Today published its annual NCAA coaching salaries. Obviously, many SEC head coaches were at the top of the list. Why? Because it’s the SEC, and these powerhouse football schools need quality coaches. Over the last month, however, there have been contract extensions and new hires within the SEC, and we can all expect winning coaches’ salaries to increase like my BAC on a Saturday night.

Keeping everything in mind, here is an updated list of SEC coaches’ salaries:

1. Nick Saban, Alabama — $7.1 million
2. Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M — $5 million
3. Les Miles, LSU — $4.3 million
4. Hugh Freeze, Ole Miss — $4 million
5. Steve Spurrier, South Carolina — $4 million
6. Gus Malzahn, Auburn — $3.8 million
7. Butch Jones, Tennessee — $3.6 million
8. Mark Stoops, Kentucky — $3.6 million
9. Jim McElwain, Florida — $3.5 million
10. Gary Pinkel, Mizzou — $3.4 million
11. Mark Richt, Georgia — $3.3 million
12. Bret Bielema, Arkansas — $3.2 million
13. Dan Mullen, Mississippi St. — $3 million
14. Derek Mason, Vanderbilt — Private

The coaches in italics are the ones whose salaries have changed, or their contracts have been extended.

Nick Saban still remains the top earner in the SEC. If Mississippi State continues to play well, we should see Dan Mullen’s salary skyrocket. Of course, we’re not worthy enough to see Derek Mason’s salary, who coaches for the “Harvard of the South,” but probably because he is now having to pay the university just to coach after last season..
