LSU’s Kappa Sigma Is About To Build A Beautiful $6 Million Mansion

It’s time to pull out your jealousy boners. Rush will soon be a little easier for the Kappa Sigmas at Louisiana State University.

The LSU Board of Supervisors recently approved the fraternity’s new mansion, which will be built where its current house stands. The house is said to be 23,000 square feet and cost around $6 million.

According to the Kappa Sigma housing corporation, a new house was desperately needed.

From WWL:

The current house is about 77 years old and was one of the first built on LSU’s campus.

“We’ve got a house that’s falling down around our ears,” Chip Weimar, head of the fraternity chapter’s housing corporation, told the LSU board.

The fraternity will fund the entire cost of the house; however, it’s a small amount of change compared to the benefits these guys will receive.

Once completed, the house will be three stories and it will have the ability to house 52 members and a house mother. The top two stories will be the living quarters, while the bottom floor will feature a large communal area.

While most of the plans are run-of-the-mill, the boys at Kappa Sigma made sure they had one key amenity.

All living quarters will be on the upper two floors, with the bottom floor designated as public spaces — including a large recreational room that will have a slab floor and concrete walls.

“It will take a hose-out well,” Weimar joked.

Well said, Weimar.

With the house scheduled for completion in Summer 2016, the brothers have to find a place to live while their chapter house is inhabitable. In true fraternity fashion, they have absolutely no idea where they plan on moving.

Weimar said there is no current plan for what Kappa Sigma members will do for communal space or living quarters during the construction period, but the chapter is working with the university to identify options for on-campus housing.

“As we speak today, we don’t have anything nailed down,” he said.

All jokes aside, congrats on your new mansion, boys. It’ll be a beauty.

I wouldn’t rush there. Too much cleaning in a 23000 Sq ft house in a semester of pledging for it to pay off.

I’m guessing you lived in a “fraternity house” that had one floor.

I’m not sure concrete and stone are the best choices for a room people are going to be passing out in
