Baylor Tries To Sway Recruits By Lying About Restaurants That Are “Coming Soon” To Waco
Recruiting for college athletics is cut throat, that’s no secret. Cash under the table, promises of girls, and awkward back rubs are commonplace, but Baylor just took shit to a new pathetic level. The following photo was snapped at a Baylor recruiting event and is allegedly the work of their athletic department.

Turns out, Uncle Mario’s and Pot Belly’s are the only businesses that will actually be coming to Waco any time “soon,” according to the Waco Tribune. Baylor’s Associate Athletic Director, Nick Joos was quoted saying, “I think somebody just decided to throw speculation on a board and call it a poster.” Great insight, bud.
These are football recruits we’re talking about though, so enticing them with eateries such as In’n’Out and Pappasito’s could be seen as tampering. Lying about it and including The Omni and Whole Foods? Tell us what the deal is, Nick.
“There’s been a lot of drawings about the kind of town Waco could look like that’s been a part of the sales pitch in the past,” Joos said.
How exciting! A Whole Foods in Waco! I’m sure a majority of the city’s population has been DYING for some organic food to sink all eight of their teeth into. And a really nice hotel will be great looking building for people to see as they drive by on their way from Austin to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl. Perhaps the Omni will become the new athlete housing building. Or maybe local couples could do a little overnight get away, hire a babysitter, drink a bottle of champagne and enjoy the pool and room service.
It’s not like Baylor had a bad year on the field either, which makes the blind speculation of these businesses coming to Waco that much more ridiculous. I’m going to assume that the University of Texas will fire back with a poster at their next recruiting event that shows head shots of the top recruits they haven’t signed yet with the words “Coming Soon.” TCU will likely claim that Disney is opening a new park in Fort Worth.
That’s Texas football, y’all..
