Texas FIJI Forgot That You Probably Shouldn’t Have A “Border Patrol” Theme Party

It looks like we can add another page to the “bad ideas” notebook. With such a plethora of inappropriate and sexually explicit themes available for parties, there isn’t a need to enter into the realm of race-themed parties. Sure, you can always slightly work around it by claiming your party is border patrol-themed, but we’re still at the mercy of the social justice warriors. So, don’t do that.

If you happened to pass the FIJI house at the University of Texas on Saturday night, you might have noticed an assload of ponchos, a few construction workers, some military garb, and a monstrous cardboard bottle of tequila. Sadly, it wasn’t Cabo, it was only Austin. The theme of the party is still uncertain (kind of, but not really). According to the school newspaper, the theme was “border patrol.” The president of FIJI, however, disagrees.

From MySanAntonio:

Andrew Campbell, the chapter’s president, denied that the organization intended to throw a border patrol-themed party, telling the school’s newspaper that the bash was supposed to be a “Western-themed party which focuses on the traditional Old West.”

“We notified our chapter prior to the party via email that the theme was Western — not south of the border or anything Mexican related,” Campbell said in an emailed statement. “It was our intention to monitor and enforce this policy to the best of our ability.”

Okay, Andrew, we’ll pretend that everyone just happened to arrive dressed in costumes that were connected to Mexican stereotypes. If your party’s theme is Old West, do you just expect a bunch of slutty cowgirls to gallop through your front door? There is so much more room for creativity, and you just blew your load on a party that is sure to result in your chapter being crucified by the everything-is-now-racist media. In your defense, however, you did apologize. That still means something, right?

Campbell continued, “If any individual or cultural groups were offended, Texas Fiji apologizes for any insensitivity that our guests or members may have portrayed. It is never Texas Fiji’s intent to alienate or demean any ethnic group.”

It’s probably not over, though. Unfortunately, someone will be sure you all are required to attend sensitivity training. In the off-chance you’re unable to come up with future party themes that won’t find your chapter on the front page of Gawker, I have a few suggestions: dinosaurs and jurassic whores, robots and sluts, afros and camel toes, and finally, my favorite, yoga hoes and trainer bros. If you do decide to use any of those, I’d appreciate an invite, though I probably won’t come.

Even though I’m half Mexican, it was hilarious and not racist at all. America is going farther down the shitter by the day

I can’t believe they apologized. Nobody should have to apologize for something as insignificant as this. Someone really needs to stand up to these bullies (oh I used the B word sorry guys, I didn’t mean to discriminate against bullies) and say no more. I would throw another party and have everyone dress up in blackface to piss them off even more. Don’t like it, well too bad, this is America and you don’t have a right to not be offended. Speaking

The problem is that since fraternities already get dicked on all the time by the liberal media, if they see anything that they can jump on they will, the only way to resolve the issue without being kicked off campus is to make a formal apology even if it’s, which it probably is, completely insincere

Throw a white-trash bash, nobody bats an eye. Throw a party that has a make-shift bottle of tequila decoration and people show up in a few ponchos, everyone looses their fucking minds!

Absolutely inexcusable. Those pledges left an extension cord laying in the middle of the party.

Wait so did we offend illegal immigrants? seriously? Are we defending the rights that they don’t have?

It’s offensive for two reasons…first because apparently immigrants have rights too. The important one is that as Mexicans we are being placed as equals to our maids and gardeners…. that’s why it’s offensive. Mexico is way more racist than the southern part of the U.S. so the fact that we’re being seen the same as a group of people that could never have been able to afford a student visa like some of us is what’s upsetting.

Mexico is about to reclaim lost territory from the Mexican war. They are taught in schools in Mexico that the land is rightfully theirs. In a couple decades or sooner – whenever the Hispanic population gets past 70% probably – people will have a “national sovereignty vote” and choose to secede and we will let them because it would be hurtful and intolerant if we didn’t. But if the South tried the same thing you know all hell would break loose. It’s funny because when people fly confederate flags in the South the rest of the nation gets “offended” but when American citizens can’t have American flags in the Southwest because they’re offensive and people support and approve of Mexico more than America it is just “tolerance and diversity”…

I’m just going to guess this comment is just you trolling because this has got to be one of the most ignorant and idiotic comments ever written on these comment boards. People are offended by the confederate flag because it represents a “country” that supported and wanted to keep the system of slavery. The whole “when there’s enough Hispanic people in the Southwest they’ll vote for secession to rejoin Mexico” is fucking retarded. Hispanic people aren’t a monolith that agree on every subject nor is every Hispanic in the Southwest Mexican so you sound even more fucking stupid. Another thing is why the fuck would Hispanic people, some of which who have risked their lives to immigrate to this great country, just go out and vote to make it a part of shitty ass mexico again is absolutely insane you stupid fuck. Last secession is still illegal and if you really think that the U.S wouldn’t do everything in their power to prevent that from occuring then you really are as retarded as you fucking sound you stupid fucking fuck

“Fuckity fuck fuck stupid fuck retard insane fuck”
The confederacy was about defending against an intrusive federal government and state rights.
I seem to remember the Americans going to Texas/Mexico to make a better life, but you see who owns that land is now.
        Anyways: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reconquista_(Mexico)

Data shows that Hispanics are more likely, in the southwest, twice as likely as whites to support secession (you can play around with the data and see for yourself) :

Cool bro glad you know how to do basic research. The whole protect state rights argument collapses on itself considering the state right that they were desperate to protect was that of slavery. Read the VP of the Confederacy Alexander Stephens Cornerstone speech. He makes it pretty clear that this war is about keeping the economic system of slavery alive. In fact he explicitly says these words, “The prevailing ideas entertained by him ( Thomas Jefferson)and most of the leading statesmen at the time of the formation of the old constitution, were that the enslavement of the African was in violation of the laws of nature; that it was wrong in principle, socially, morally, and politically. It was an evil they knew not well how to deal with, but the general opinion of the men of that day was that, somehow or other in the order of Providence, the institution would be evanescent and pass away. This idea, though not incorporated in the constitution, was the prevailing idea at that time. The constitution, it is true, secured every essential guarantee to the institution while it should last, and hence no argument can be justly urged against the constitutional guarantees thus secured, because of the common sentiment of the day. Those ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong.”

If you care to read up on the rest of this old racist’s great state rights speech go right ahead. Here’s the link

Take a basic Civil War history class while you’re in school or read a fucking book for once.

Sorry forgot to add this past that makes it even more clear
” …Those ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong. They rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. It was a sandy foundation, and the government built upon it fell when the “storm came and the wind blew.”

Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.

You do know that Lincoln didn’t sign the emancipation proclamation until after the war was underway, also the ONLY reason he signed it was so that The British wouldn’t become an ally with the confederacy

Is this a joke? Racist themed parties are some of the best. Who hasn’t attended a 40s and shorties MLK Day party?
