Two Members Of Sigma Nu Suffer Life Threatening Trauma, Brothers Come To Aid
Earlier this morning, I received an email from a few University of Iowa Sigma Nus with some heavy news. Two of their brothers had suffered major traumatic medical conditions before the spring semester began.
Rodric Jackson, a member of Sigma Nu at the University Of Iowa, was diagnosed with stage three brain cancer. Since his diagnosis, he has withdrawn from school for the semester and has undergone multiple surgeries and is currently receiving radiation treatment. His brother told me that the bond between him and the house is as strong as ever.
A few days after the brothers received this unfortunate news, they were given even more terrible news. Andrew Mogni was traveling abroad in Rome when he fell 40 feet and suffered major head trauma. Doctors placed him in a medically induced coma, and he has been battling several infections and internal bleeding, as well as possible brain damage. He was finally medically transported back to the United States just a few days ago and is now at Northwestern Hospital receiving treatment.
The brothers did not stand idly by as they created two GoFundMe campaigns. One is for Brother Rodric, and the other is for their philanthropy, “Kickin’ It For A Cure.” Their philanthropy is centered around helping out the two brothers and their families. To show their support, they have also hung banners outside of their house that say “Pray for Mogni,” and “Pray for Rodric.” Recently, the brothers ordered wristbands that say PrayForMogni on one side and PrayForRodric on the other. In addition, they also made basketball jerseys for the semester.
I highly suggest taking time out of your day to donate to these causes. They need our help. Every little bit counts.
To donate to Kickin’ It For A Cure, click HERE. To donate to Rodric’s fund, click HERE. The funds from Kickin’ It For A Cure will go to both families.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the brothers of Sigma Nu, their friends, and the family of these two fine gentlemen..

11 years ago at 10:34 amStay strong brothers, and have faith. LTH.
As for the rest of the Greek community, let’s use this opportunity to show the liberal media that we can all get behind a cause and rally in the face of this adversity. Give a couple bucks and say an extra prayer. Tough month for Greeks nationwide, God speed.
11 years ago at 10:42 amPeople can say what they want about the Greek community but the way these hard times have met with prayers and donations says a lot. I was looking through Nicholas Newberry’s gofundme page and people from various Greek organizations all over the country have been donating to him. Hopefully the same will be done for these two as well. Prayers for all three.
11 years ago at 10:47 amIt truly honors me that fraternity men can come together like this. We must show the world the strength, unity, and compassion of our community. It’s been a hard few weeks, with several chapters suffering attacks and the losses of loved brothers due to tragic accidents. Chins up gentlemen. We can keep going if we stick together and make each other laugh and help one another through the rough times. Tomorrow is always something to smile about.
11 years ago at 10:51 amI’m glad that this community comes together for tragedies such as these and shows what being Greek is truly about. Let’s keep it up guys.
11 years ago at 10:52 amI’d love to see the media cover this and I commend the Fraternity for stepping up and not only honoring their brothers, but also helping their families with all the medical expenses they’re about to have. Happy to donate to a worth-while cause. Stay strong, boys.

11 years ago at 11:31 amThese are the kind of stories that make me proud to be a part of the Greek system. With all of the negative press recently, it’s good to see an article that shows the powerful positive impacts that fraternities can make. Especially when their brothers need it the most.
11 years ago at 11:52 amPrayers go out to these two strong gentlemen, their families and all of the brothers affected by this tragedy. Stay strong and keep your heads held high.
People coming together for something is one of the reasons I joined a fraternity and I’m glad to see there is a support system that is nationwide and so large.
Once again, stay strong and prayers to everyone from the Epsilon Kappa chapter. LTH, brothers.
