Florida State Fraternity Brothers Help Stop Assault On Female Student
With the fun and excitement of everyday life on a college campus comes at least one very sobering fact: it is loaded to the brim with potential victims. With social awareness at an all-time low, and creepy motherfuckers lurking among us, it only becomes a question of when, not if.
The legal system failed us when it released 24-year-old Patrick Furman onto the streets of Tallahassee, Florida. He was fresh off of five years in lockup after being convicted of aggravated battery with intended harm and escaping a treatment program. Only three days after he was released from Gadsden County Prison, he found himself back in cuffs in the custody of the Florida State University Police Department.
Yesterday, just after midnight, Furman approached a young woman from behind and began grabbing her chest and attempted to pull her away with him. As the victim struggled, several Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity brothers were walking near the Oglesby Student Union when they unknowingly walked into a crime in progress. That’s when he released the victim, and the fraternity brothers gave chase.
From WTXL:
Police said some of the fraternity members began to chase Furman, who ran toward DeGraff Hall. A public service officer was also able to get the suspect’s description from the fraternity members.
The felonious idiot was captured shortly afterward thanks to the information provided by the brothers. As he ran, he approached an undercover Florida State University police officer and asked to get in the unmarked cruiser. The officer granted his request and took him into custody.
The chief of the FSU Police Department praised the brothers’ actions.
FSU Police Chief David Perry says they are grateful for the students’ action to help a fellow student in distress. “With their help, and swift coordination with our uniformed and plainclothes officers, FSU stood united to stop this offender and ensure he was taken into custody. We want to say loudly and clearly that anyone who seeks to harm our students will be dealt with using every resource we have.”
Furman was charged with felony kidnapping and aggravated assault..

Finally, we’re back to what this website was intended for. Shedding light on the good fraternities do.
11 years ago at 9:35 amI can’t wait for the media circus that’s about to surround this story… Ohh wait
11 years ago at 9:37 am“Tonight on CNN. Frat boys involved with attempted rape.”
11 years ago at 1:59 pmMore like “Frat boys involved with missing Malaysian Airplane”
11 years ago at 3:23 pmWe’re not going hear shit about this on the news
11 years ago at 9:38 amOf course not. This story doesn’t further the liberal media’s agenda.
11 years ago at 1:20 pmA few years ago you’d be called crazy for saying that (even by me.) But today, it’s quite possibly the sad truth of our country. The media is a joke.
11 years ago at 5:13 pmYou won’t see it on Fox News either. No point in further alienating ourselves
11 years ago at 8:53 pmAfter reading the story, it sounds like Chief Perry needs to put more emphasis on the swift action of the brothers. The undercover officer caught him on dumb luck.
11 years ago at 9:39 amThe undercover officer basically did nothing, the guy just delivered himself
11 years ago at 10:13 amWe need to get rid of the general public they are getting out of control, with serial gropers, shitters, assulters, etc. Way to go gents, continue to exemplify fraternity men.
11 years ago at 9:44 amGetting rid of the general public. THitlerM
11 years ago at 10:09 amOh sorry, did that sound too genocidal? I meant GDIs.
11 years ago at 6:07 pmOdds the media tries to say it was the fraternity brothers trying to kidnap her?
11 years ago at 9:45 amProbably not very high.
11 years ago at 9:57 amIf they want a class action lawsuit for defamation.
11 years ago at 10:48 amApril should be a good month for us
11 years ago at 9:51 amAfter last month, I doubt it could get worse.
11 years ago at 11:28 amKappa Alpha Psi is a historically black fraternity.
11 years ago at 9:52 amremind me what significance that has?
11 years ago at 9:57 amThey were chasing a white guy in the South. There were risks.
11 years ago at 12:06 pmI must have missed where the color of their skin was more important (or relevant) than them keeping a girl from being further taken advantage of. That’s a hell of a lot better TFM than just getting kicked out of bar they’ve been kicked out of numerous times…
11 years ago at 9:58 am^ an. Oh, and you’re a douche canoe.
11 years ago at 12:31 amMore stories like this please (not just TFM covering them, but also more of them happening)
11 years ago at 9:52 amMan, I can’t wait for The Atlantic article about this…oh wait, the fraternity brothers didn’t do the assaulting? Statement retraced.
11 years ago at 10:03 am*Retracted. Laps taken
11 years ago at 10:27 amThe effort was there. This^s given.
