Tone Deaf Cleveland Cavaliers Dabble With Domestic Violence In Hype Video
I’m sure the creative team over at the Quicken Loans Arena is having itself quite the day after throwing this hype video up on the jumbotron before Game two of the Cavs-Bulls series.
First off, did they get a local high school video department to shoot this gem? The video quality reminds me of something the morning announcement team would throw together in five minutes back at Ridley High. You’d expect a little more professionalism from an NBA franchise.
I get that this is suppose to be a Dirty Dancing parody, but in today’s world, having a video of some dude throwing his girlfriend on her head so she sides with him is probably not the best idea. Factor in that the whole thing is just painfully awkward and not even remotely funny, and you’re just feeding fuel into the outrage machine fire.
Just stick with the basics, Cavaliers: Players uncomfortably staring at the camera as they slowly spin around in a background of some combination of clouds, fire, and lightning all while mixing in highlights. Throw in a song like “Requiem For A Dream” and you’ll bring down the house every time. Boom! Done. Call it a day. Repeat that formula every year and you won’t run into this problem..

The video really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be once I started hearing people talk about it, but it was still completely unnecessary.

10 years ago at 1:51 pmCheck out the UnitedHealthCare version of this. Two fat asses and the wife is so fat she can’t wear normal pants and the husband can’t support her massive weight. I thought it would be about talking to your doctor and him telling you to dance more and skip dinner. Nope, it’s about a new plan where you can talk to your doctor from home…and be less mobile.
10 years ago at 1:55 pmAt least it’s not a video for an NFL team.
10 years ago at 3:56 pmThis sucks and real domestic violence is the only thing that would have made it better.
10 years ago at 5:36 pmWhat the hell does that mean?
10 years ago at 1:43 amMan gets hurt, it becomes a joke. Woman gets hurt, it’s an atrocity.
10 years ago at 10:52 pmI thought I would apparently find such stupidity, ignorance here. 🙁 Yea’ I’m looking at you GDlonFleek.
I saw the original story, then thought to myself, “I’m going to Google a few sites where there probably will be some dumb ass males who will embarrass, or shame themselves, i.e., Brietbart, Town Hall, Total Frat Move; you get the idea.
I DO much compliment the author, Dan Regester, for a (mature), fair and accurate article. The forums on such sites are where the social losers usually show up in mass. It’s not that bad here. Some smart ass remarks and immature insensitivity.
I don’t have the patience right now to explain why your brief reply reeks of a typically ignorant, simplistic male defense. I’ll just state that the history of violence of men against women is so dominantly massive that there is a specific acute concern and response to such things as that violence against women parody.
Smarten up GDlonFleek; please. Maybe you’re basically a good guy, who didn’t think it out; then decided to make such a remark.
Peace. 🙂
