Phil Mickelson Left A $99 Tip At A Little Kid’s Lemonade Stand This Weekend

Outside of his terrible acting skills and slightly-too-tight-fit golf shirts, is there any reason not to like Phil Mickelson?

The legendary lefty golfer was leaving the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Oh., this weekend when he spotted a couple kids having a lemonade stand. He stopped and bought a $1 glass of lemonade. Then he left a $99 tip.

From the Columbus Dispatch:

Roland Van Karsen, 6, is saving up for a Nerf gun and his sister, 8-year-old Elise, wants a Kindle.

Legendary pro golfer Phil Mickelson gave those dreams a big boost last week.

Mickelson stopped by the kids’ lemonade stand on Thursday morning at the corner of Carnoustie Drive and Kilbannan Court outside the No. 10 gate at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin.

He bought a $1 glass of lemonade.

Then, he gave them a $99 tip.

…Mickelson drank the lemonade, put a folded $100 bill in Roland’s hand, thanked him and drove away.

At first, the kids thought it was a ten spot. Then Elise took it and unfolded it. “I said ‘Whoa.’  ”

Their mom, Ann, said it was kind of surreal.

“We didn’t take any pictures, we didn’t get any autographs,” she recalled on Saturday. “It happened so fast that we were kind of stunned. What a great guy, though, right? So generous and the kids will have a memory like that forever.”

That’s tax free money, right there. I’m not sure how much a Kindle costs, but that little guy can toss out his lemonade stuff now and easily afford like 5 decent Nerf guns. Not to mention the lifelong memory he’ll have of selling lemonade to one of the greatest golfers of our generation.

Apparently this generosity is nothing new for Phil. According to ESPN golf reporter Jason Sobel, one PGA player reported that Mickelson gives out at least ten $100 bills to tournament workers every time he competes.

Mickelson is truly “FIGJAM” in all aspects of life.

Eh as much as I appreciate the gesture I think it would be more responsible to give a child less. He needs to learn the value of a dollar and the benefit of saving up for something and being patient, now he has no motivation to do such. Nothing in life comes easy.

I wouldn’t look that far into it. I’m sure the kids were told that Phil Mickelson is mega wealthy and any future lemonade stand they run won’t yield a tip like that. They probably took the hundred and bought a nice toy. It was a nice gesture, nothing more.

Since when do 8 year olds save up money for Kindles? What ever happened to Barbie dolls and Tamagotchi?

I’m pretty sure that kid earned the $1 he got for the glass of lemonade. Is it liberal to tip a ridiculous amount?

Yeah because having so much money that you can tip whatever you damn well please so is not frat.

Stop trying so hard, pulling a power move and giving 2 kids $100 is the opposite of being a liberal
