Johnny Manziel Is Retiring The Money Sign From His Repertoire Of Celebrations

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel says he has learned his lesson and will not be bringing back the money sign celebration next season.
It’s been a wild ride for the money sign, which was introduced by Manziel after sitting out for a half during the 2013 season opener against Rice.
From NBC Sports:
“The money sign will not be back. I will not be making it,” Manziel said.
That’s because Manziel thinks it’s time for him to grow up and move on from a rough rookie season that saw him struggle on the field and end up in alcohol rehab.
“Last year is last year, it was what it was and it was not very good,” Manziel said. “So for me, I’m trying to close that chapter and just build on what I’ve done so far this year and just move forward, and try to close that chapter in my life. Not one that I’m very proud of, not one that I want to look back on very much and dwell on, that’s for sure.”
Manziel floundered in his rookie season with Cleveland, becoming more of an off-field distraction than an on-field asset. He spent part of his offseason in rehab and will be looking to regain the confidence lost in him by the Browns organization when training camp starts next month.
It’s a shame he is retiring such a special celebration. The money sign was a beautiful “fuck you” to the NCAA, after an investigation into his alleged profiting off of his signature yielded only a 30-minute in-game suspension. The money sign immediately became a universal celebration for all young guys in the south. Solid beer pong shot? Money sign. Fade away three at the rec? Money sign. 74 on an important computer science exam to stay above a D? Money sign. The money sign might be the only cool thing to come out of A&M’s Kyle Field in its 88 years of existence.
I’m excited for his next in-the-moment touchdown celebration. I only hope it will be half as endearingly douchey..
