Waffle House, the greatest restaurant chain to ever serve food between 2 and 6 a.m., hit a major milestone Tuesday morning when it sold its one billionth waffle.

The 60-year-old company celebrated by treating an entire Atlanta Centennial Park restaurant to free breakfast, saving each patron an estimated $8.95.

From WXIA:

That’s a lot of waffles made,” said Shanneil McCollum, who ordered an apple crumb waffle at the Centennial Park restaurant at 10 a.m. “I love their waffles. I’m happy.”

Associates shouted “congratulations” when her order arrived at the table. They brought out balloons and a special plaque.

McCollum received a goody bag full of Waffle House gear and a free breakfast. Waffle House went a step further and treated the entire restaurant to breakfast.

“We have such a loyal, loyal following,” said Darren Jarrett, Waffle House Senior Vice President of Operations for Atlanta. “Our analysts have been watching this billion-waffle mark for a long time. They gave us the word yesterday that it was going to happen around 10 o’clock today.”

Neighbors Joe Rogers, Sr. and Tom Forkner opened the first Waffle House in Avondale Estates, outside of Atlanta, on September 5, 1955. Since then, the company has opened more than 1,800 restaurants in 25 states.

“At first, I thought you had the wrong person,” McCollum told 11Alive’s Jennifer Leslie. “The waffles with almond syrup taste good to me.”

McCollum said she usually orders blueberry waffles, but the apple crumb waffle was her lucky one.

Only uninspired, bad Americans have anything negative to say about Waffle House. Sitting down somewhere in the southeast and ordering an All-Star special with your hashbrowns covered, chunked, and country while sipping on a hot cup of coffee is what life is all about. Waffle House is the destination spot for post-game meals at SEC schools — except Texas A&M, because College Station is the only SEC town that doesn’t have one. And by post-game meal, I mean some time at 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, after the bars and parties start winding down and everyone is drunk and starving.

Waffle House is, without question, the most American restaurant chain this nation has ever seen. Here is to a billion more waffles in my lifetime.

If we really want to blackball Steve Holt, stop posting and viewing his shit-tier articles. We all hate him, and the circlejerk in the comments is always the same, but we always keep clicking, and so he’ll always be employed. He gets 10-30 comments per article, and thousands of views. If we stop clicking his buzzfeed-tier articles, he’ll get fired.

It pains me to agree with SteveHolt but I actually hope you die, how in the fuck is Chick-fil-ass more American when you can’t even go there after you get drunk at the bars? Hungover on a sunday? Chick-fil-a says fuck you, but waffle house welcomes everyone with open arms. So don’t you fucking dare ever even think that thought again.
