The Professor Killed At Delta State University On Monday Was A Phi Delta Theta Brother
The Delta State University professor of American History who was tragically murdered in his office on Monday was a brother of the Kansas Epsilon chapter of Phi Delta Theta at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.
From WIBW:
“He was an excellent educator and I think he knew that a professor can shape the future through the students that they teach,” said Heineken. “I believe that was at the core of his desire to make a difference through his students.”
Schmidt was shot in his office Monday by fellow co-worker Shannon Lamb. Lamb was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the head Monday night. Lamb is also believed to be connected to the death of Amy Prentiss in the house they shared.
During Schmidt’s time at ESU he was a member of Phi Delta Theta and served as student body president.
ESU Phi Delt held a candlelight vigil outside their chapter house last night to remember their fallen brother.
Thanks to everyone who made it out tonight to remember a remarkable individual. Our hearts are heavy, but we will…

Old or young it’s always sad to hear that a fellow Greek brother has been killed or passed away.
