MVP of the Week: Chris Mintz

When a gunman attacked Oregon’s Umpqua Community College on Thursday, Chris Mintz, a 30-year-old military veteran and student at the college, put his life on the line to save his classmates. While blocking the door to prevent the shooter from entering the room, Mintz was shot a total of seven times – and survived. From his service to his country to his unspeakable act of courage in the face of death, Mintz has proven that he’s the type of man who lives for the lives of others.

Douchebag of the Week: (Tie) Every media outlet that published the shooter’s name and photo

Every mass shooter has the same motive: to get their name, face, and agenda splashed on every front page of every mainstream media outlet in the country. This guy succeeded, setting up another similar and inevitable tragedy. By giving these sickos exactly what they want, mainstream media will continue to perpetuate the violence on campuses for clicks. But the photos we post of college kids drinking is what’s really putting them in danger, right?
