Viral Tweet Accuses PSU Fraternity Member Of Beating Guy Up For Being Gay, Police Find Suspect Isn’t Actually In Fraternity

490e5315791f411ac31d1aaef6634cad

John Mateer, 19, visited Penn State University over the weekend. During his visit, he encountered a man who claimed to have told John that he hated gay people. John then told the man that he was gay, resulting in a violent beating. John filed a police report and posted a picture of his injuries to Twitter, where he claimed that the deed was done by a “frat guy.”

The tweet went viral.

The Inside Edition reported that State College police began an investigation into the matter to identify the suspect. Late last night, State College PD was able to identify him, and surprise, it turns out the culprit of this hate crime was, in fact, not a member of a fraternity.

It’s abhorrent that John was physically attacked for claiming he was gay. However, his tweet was reckless. And unfortunately, the 12,000+ people who retweeted it, and the many, many more who came across it, will not see the follow-up story and will go on believing the claim in the tweet as fact. Something saying “Don’t let a guy who hates gays know that you’re gay” would have been just as effective.

Not every guy in khakis and a polo is a fraternity member, and, believe it or not, not all prejudiced thinking and behavior is confined within fraternity house walls. Crazy, I know.

In obamas new America, fraternities (or WASP males in general) are considered guilty until proven innocent.

Try being black and getting stopped by the police and shot for doing nothing wrong. Try being a woman and dealing with sexism. WASPs are the luckiest people in the country. To try and play the victim card makes you seem stupid.

You do realize that more unarmed whites are killed by police every year compared to blacks, right? Not sure what that has to do with this article though….

11 years ago at 11:10 am
      3. TokenBlackPledge

Fratasaurus, you obviously know that because there are far more white individuals in the U.S than black people so the fact you provided is very misleading? You look at rates, and unarmed Black Americans are twice as likely to be killed than unarmed White Americans.

11 years ago at 12:16 pm

Blacks commit 52% of all homicides in the US. They make up 12% of the population. You do the math.

11 years ago at 6:41 pm
      7. TokenBlackPledge

Don’t know how the homocide rate for blacks relates to the higher rate of unarmed black men being killed by the police… These are not black men with guns or deadly weapons.

11 years ago at 8:32 pm
      8. Fratasaurus

You said that blacks are twice as likely to be shot by police, yet they commit many times more crime. When I pointed that out, you somehow gathered that I wasn’t aware of how many white people there are compared to black? Blacks are 7x more likely to commit murder than whites. Being twice as likely to be shot by police is, in comparison, pretty good.

You’re not offensive. You’re just lucky. Do you get called the N-word, followed around in stores, made to feel inferior because of your race? Have you ever been afraid to kiss who you love in public because of ridicule and violence? Have you been ever had to go without food or electricity in your home? Many people DO. The congress isn’t elected to work with the president, the congress is elected by their districts to represent the district at the federal level. That the congress is a republican majority shows that the majority of Americans do not wish to work with the president.

Look, you one-sided jerkoff. Once any race has had multiple succeful persons in multiple fields (multiple athletes, celebrities, a president, two of the smartest men alive Neil DeGrasse Tyson and presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson), disenfranchisement is no longer a viable argument. If anyone/anything is holding the black community down, it’s the “get rich or die trying”, Straight Outta Compton culture of mentality they’ve bred by their continued support and praise of it. If you think that’ll get you anywhere except a pine box, you are fucking delusional and need to clear the bong water out from between your ears.

While I respect Tyson for his credentials (not so much his very liberal positions)…. Neil DeGrasse Tyson is a magic negro. His only accomplishment is having a PhD while being black, while there are of thousands of other, more accomplished physicists out there that aren’t recognized for their contributions. For example, only 12 out of 3,302 physicists in US federal labs are black. I read somewhere a long time ago (from a reputable source, too, I wish I could remember) that out of about good number of scientists that they could have to put on a TV program that they chose the only two black ones.

They did back in the 1600’s through 1800’s but you don’t see them complaining about how much they’re owed and how hard they had it. Every group of people has been discriminated against. Asians were treated as bad as blacks were when they arrived in this country yet they’re the most successful group of people living in America. No, every group has risen above discrimination except for blacks, which prefer to meddle in their own excrement and remain at the bottom even though they have had every advantage handed to them by the government since the 1860s. (You could say that’s not true because of Jim Crow, but even in areas without it they still absolutely failed)

Are you kidding me? Jim Crow was for 90 years and then we had racist housing policy (redlining) for 35 years. And the only Asians that are successful are the east asians and Indians. Vietnamese and Philipinos have high crime and poverty rates. Racism against blacks is a system that has been in effect before America was even a country. The average black family is worth 16x less than a white one. And what are these advantages you are claiming? Affirmative Action? Affirmative Action helps wealthy minorities and white women the most. It’s not the poor black kids in Detroit and Cleveland that are getting the help. This country has done EVERYTHING in its power to destroy and keep blacks second class. Even when they tried to be successful on their own (Black Wall Street) it was burned to the ground by jealous whites.

So does that justify the extreme discrimination white guys face in 21st century society. Everything from Salem Witch hunts (UVA) to Job and admission discrimination (affirmative action) To the general anomosity white males face.

Look at every commercial ex:home alarm commercials always to weird looking white guys breaking (even though statistics say other wise) and Car fax commercials always a sleezy white guy salesman trying to rip off the a minority couple or woman. To PC warriors getting offended by a white guy’s shirt (satellite on a comment incident) But not saying a word about all the mistreatment in women in other non-White cultures) Whites gotta stop apologizing for being who we are and start demanding society stop discriminating.

After all very recently a Turkish “Diversity Officer” in England the whitest country banned “cis gendered white males” from attending her diversity events and used the twitter hashtag kill all white men. Mean while she is Turkish and her people literally genocided millions. But it seems only white Christian males are the evil ones who victimize everyone else.

Actually, the democrats/republican geographic position didn’t really switch until the the 1960’s as part of the Southern Strategy. Why do we need to recognize our advantages? We just live our lives with privilege and success because our generations before worked hard to set us up this way. All you liberal fuckwits do is stereotype us, falsely accuse us of anything from prejudice to heinous crimes, and try to take our American, freedom-full way of life away. Look at Phi Kappa Psi at UVA for example. And you do all this out of hate and spite while we just try to live AND do our part to serve our communities. Instead of turning Americans against other perfectly upstanding Americans, you could actually work to achieve something so you or your lineage can enjoy the same bouts of success in the future. But you won’t because you’re a pathetic piece of trash.
