Delta Chi Confirms Members Were Involved In Fatal Shooting At Northern Arizona University

Delta Chi international headquarters have confirmed that members of its Northern Arizona University chapter were involved in a shooting earlier this morning that killed one person and wounded three others. According to police, shortly after 1 a.m. this morning, two separate student groups got into a confrontation in a parking lot outside Mountain View Hall dormitory. It turned physical, and 18-year-old freshman Steven Jones pulled out and used a handgun on four students. Jones was taken into custody by authorities without conflict.

Names of the victims have yet to be released by school officials, but it seems evident they were connected with Delta Chi.

Back in 2011, the NAU Delta Chi house was peppered by a drive-by shooting, but with no injuries. The Arizona Daily Star has also reported that “two other recent firearm-related assaults at the fraternity are also believed to be connected to drug sales there.”

Regardless of what may or may not have been the motive behind this mornings shooting, our thoughts are with Delta Chi and the NAU community.

It’s Northern Arizona University (NAU). Agree with the sentiments, but wrong acronym.

It is a sad day when people these days result to the decision to pulling out a weapon that kills/wounds people when it was obviously not necessary. We don’t have the full story yet, but In a situation where just walking away would’ve ended this. People these days just don’t know when to call it enough.

As you said we don’t know all the details but I wouldn’t be surprised if the shooter was on some sort of drug

Prayers to UNA, but this further reinforces the idea that we need law abiding citizens with guns that will put a stop to the evil that keeps happening here.

Leave gun laws out of this bullshit for once. This isn’t the actions of a person in their right mind. Stupid people will be stupid no matter what stands in their way.

My bad I should’ve read the article and known that wasn’t the time before I commented. Laps taken.

And does anyone from the media care about these gentlemen from Delta Chi? No, but God forbid if these were minority students involved…

I agree with the media focus, but let’s not self victimize and take away from the real focus of caring about the people affected by this. I know it wasn’t your intention. But this isn’t about minorities right now.

The media could care less what the victims look like, as long as they have the “school shooter” narrative, they are happy. This wasn’t even some premeditated violence, just drunk kids who were fighting and one had a gun and felt threatened. Heard the kid actually waited for the cops to arrive after the fact.

You have got to be kidding me. Not an hour after the shooting you spout off this nonsense? Media coverage is always centered around the shooter. And FYI when you posted this names of the victims weren’t even released. You assumed that they weren’t a minority just because they were Greek. You are just as bad as the race baiters on MSNBC. So you spout off this racist rhetoric after a tragedy for upvotes on TFM? That is just disgusting.

I’m quite fed up with seeing this type of shit in the news. It’s become a damn annual thing! Not a single person should have to endure something so fucking outrageous as a school shooting. We need change, and now.

    1. today it’s statstically plausible that there will be a shooting every three weeks. something is going on here and it scares and troubles me deeply.

This isn’t a “school shooting” like that in Oregon – it’s a murder that occurred on campus.

As a member of the Greek community at NAU, I can say everyone has a very heavy heart today. Many of my brothers, myself included, have friends in the DChi chapter here. We are all looking into how we can offer our support.
