Freak Of Nature/Phi Kappa Psi Brother To Swim 10 FUCKING MILES To Help End Breast Cancer

Alex Asdourian, a senior at Loyola University New Orleans and a brother of Phi Kappa Psi, is hell-bent on putting an end to breast cancer, and he’s doing it by swimming a distance most of us couldn’t even jog.

Asdourian and fellow Phi Kappa Psi brother Eric Jurgeson will hit the pool on November 14 for a 10 mile swim for the cause. All funds raised for the event will go to the American Cancer Society.

Asdourian and Jurgeson, who plan to swim the incredible distance with only one less-than-ten-minute break, have been prepping for the event for months.

On his GoFundMe page, Asdourian says the idea came to him in a wild dream. Stranded on an island with no way off, he was forced to swim 100 miles to safety.

When he woke up, he bet a fraternity brother a steak dinner that he could swim 1/10th of that distance. He swam for 9 hours, but the pool staff kicked him out at closing time after reaching only 8.2 miles. His brother bought him the dinner anyway, but Asdourian wasn’t satisfied with the results. He plans to reach his 10 mile goal when dives in for the event in less than two weeks.

Asdourian says he is also driven by his aunt, who survived a long battle with breast cancer.

This story is amazing. Not only is he swimming a distance that would stop my heart while raising money for a great cause, the dude is literally following his dream. It’s fucking manifest destiny. Someone please give him ALL of the pussy. Just round it all up, put in a box, attach it to one of those Amazon drones, and fly that pussy to his doorstep. All of it.

    That’s a bit of an overstatement. I’d say it’s more like running a marathon, but still an impressive feat for an honorable cause nonetheless.

      As a competitive swimmer 10 mile swim is roughly a 40 mile run.

      Keep in mind that the longest Olympic event is 6.2 miles

    Good for him.

    10 miles isn’t like an ungodly distance though. Typical competitive swimmers do like 4-5 or so miles a practice. On days where they do doubles its probably somewhere closer to 7-8 a day. A typical warm up and cool down can be about a mile. My team used to do a 10 mile straight swim each Christmas break, its tough no doubt, but doable.

      And you were probably on an elite swim team like myself. Dude 10 miles translates to a 40 mile run. The longest Olympic event is only 6.2 miles(10k)
