Uber Is Down to Party, Now Offering Prepaid Rides For Big Events
Uber is already one of the best things to happen to the drunk community in a long time. It not only saves you from riding with a sketchy cab driver that’s going to charge you $40 for a two-mile trip, but the ride-hailing service is totally down to party.
Now they’re looking for event planners and guests attending large corporate events, weddings, and more.
On Wednesday, Uber announced the national rollout of UberEvents, a service allowing party planners to prepay for guests’ rides. Usage sounds extremely easy: party hosts will sign up online, prepay for tickets for their guests, and guests will receive a text code for the event from Uber.
This is clutch for those events sponsored by fraternities, businesses, or anyone else. It basically ensures your guests are going to get tanked without a care in the world, because they don’t have to worry about driving their cars and/or not getting stabbed by a cabbie.
From Business Insider:
During the four week beta, the ride-hailing company had already seen 500 events booked across the platform, said Max Crowley, head of Uber for Business. The smallest party was a housewarming for 20 guests, while another was a conference for 1,500 people.
…
During the beta period, he’s seen everyone from beer companies reaching out to sponsor a few dollars off rides home from a music festival to HR departments buying up passes to bring recruits to the office.
Sounds like companies are already lining up to hand out cheap rides just for a bit of extra logo face time. You can get drunk off cheap whiskey and then have a cheap whiskey company pay for your ride home.
This is the best thing to happen since the installation of the pledge sober driver program..
