Police Beat The Hell Out Of Some Poor Drunk Rebels Fan At The Ole Miss-LSU Game
Ole Miss is investigating an incident where it appears multiple police officers beat the living shit out of some drunk Rebels fan inside Vaught–Hemingway Stadium on Saturday.
The victim, Chris Barnes, suffered multiple injuries, including a concussion. His wife, Holly, managed to capture a little bit of the confrontation on camera before uploading it to Facebook:
My husband, a two time Veteran of the US Army National Guard, was wrongfully assaulted on campus during the Ole Miss vs LSU game by a POLICE OFFICER. He was hit twice in the face and then arrested. THEY DID NOT GIVE HIM MEDICAL ATTENTION. Four hours later once he posted bail, he asked his friends to take him to the ER. He was diagnosed with a concussion, fractures to his orbital wall and maxillary sinus and contusions to the tissues of his eyes. This all stemmed because the officers thought he did something that someone a few rows up did and blamed him and his friends. I’m disappointed in the University police department and the Oxford police department for letting this happen. YOU ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW. THIS IS NOT OK. Please help us get justice by calling out this police officer! I want his NAME AND BADGE! Please help me get this to the media by sharing. Thank you. Pictures posted in comments.

From WLBT:
Barnes said her husband was taken to the hospital roughly four hours after he was arrested.
Chris was diagnosed with a concussion, fractures to his orbital wall and maxillary sinus, and contusions to the tissues of his eyes.
Barnes said she is disappointed with university police officers and Oxford Police Department for allowing the incident to happen.
“It’s quite shocking to see something like that from people who are supposed to be protecting and serving us,” Ole Miss fan Jennifer Lopez said.
Oxford Police tweeted it was not involved in any way with what happened.
Ole Miss Police released the following statement:
“The University of Mississippi Police Department is aware of the video of an incident taking place at the Ole Miss-LSU football game. The officers involved are not officers with the University Police Department, but are certified officers from other jurisdictions hired to work security at home football games. The University of Mississippi Police Department takes this situation seriously, and is currently investigating the incident. We encourage anyone that witnessed the event to contact the department at 662-915-7234 or email us at upd@olemiss.edu.”
Many people who saw the video find it uncalled for.
Just check out this guy’s face:

That is some serious police brutality right there. Even if this guy was in the wrong — I’m sure, as a drunk Ole Miss fan watching his team beat the hell out of LSU, he was hardly civil — there is no reason police should ever do that to someone’s face. That is absolutely uncalled for. Like how shitty of a police officer do you have to be to detain someone that you have to beat their fucking face in before you can arrest them? What kind of fucking power trip do you have to be on to do that in a crowded stadium?
I’m sure it’s a small consolation, but at least Ole Miss won on Saturday. Maybe this guy was able to catch the highlights as he was eating dinner through a straw. Dude should press charges and get comped season tickets for life..

I wish the intern got the shit beaten out of him.

10 years ago at 12:17 pmNothing like a little police brutality while jamming out to some spin doctors.

10 years ago at 11:39 amDon’t get me wrong, I’m not one of these blacklivesmatter, anit-cop kinda guy. But lately, the police have been pretty much been asking for this kind of publicity and protests.
Apparently the cops haven’t realized yet that we all have cameras and everything is recorded. The days of beating the shit out of innocent citizens are over if you want to keep your job.
10 years ago at 11:16 amThe protest in ferguson, New York, and other places around the country could be reasonable and maybe necessary if they protested general police brutality. America is number one in police shootings and cases of police brutality out of all other industrialized nations. Yet they protest black lives matter and make it about race to garner special attention instead of focusing on an actual social problem.

10 years ago at 11:20 amHis wife is fighting an uphill battle. No one is going to know or care about this because he’s white. Police brutality is becoming a common thing, it’s not just happening to minorities. Liberal medias need to stop making the issue about cops beating minorities. Plain police brutality should become the main focus
10 years ago at 11:23 amIt is not becoming a common thing, it has always been a common thing. Incidents are just being recorded when they happen these days. And while it more than likely won’t get national attention (it might have already I haven’t looked into it) the story being posted on sites like this does help spread awareness. Also, with video evidence, this guy will win this case, meaning that cop will lose his job. So, other cops who don’t want to lose their jobs will theoretically stop beating the shit out of civilians.
10 years ago at 11:48 amSteve, I truly wish that would have been you
10 years ago at 11:29 amYou all know what the reaction would be if this guy were black
10 years ago at 12:05 pmI wasn’t smart enough to get into Cop School and had to settle for a major 4 year university instead, but I am pretty sure a right cross is not needed for 2 well trained officers to detain one drunk college football fan. I’m surprised we couldn’t hear the scripted “STOP RESISTING” liability screams from the officers over the Spin Doctors in the background.
10 years ago at 12:19 pmSo, you couldn’t upload the video?
