Virginia Tech’s Annual Snow War Looks Insane

It’s an annual tradition for students at Virginia Tech to converge on the drillfield, the large patch of flat land in the heart of campus, for a snowball fight more massive than anything you’ve seen.

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets versus civilian snow battle starts off with the cadets building fortified walls in preparation for the onslaught from the rest of the student body. Then, hundreds of students descend upon the encampment for what can only be described as an all-out snow war.

With lines of screaming people charging full speed at one another, their flags billowing in a sky clouded with snowy ammunition against a backdrop of castle-esque structures, the scene looks like it was ripped right out of Game of Thrones (there’s also a few dudes wearing medieval armor — hey, it’s a big engineering school).

When your school is so cold that your balls don’t retreat from your stomach for the entire winter season, you make the most of it..
