If You’re Looking To Score On Tinder, Here’s The Best Time To Swipe

Tinder can be a dangerous game. What I mean by that is normally you will be swiping for hours after being 10 whiskeys deep on the way home from the bar. This can inhibit some of your good swiping decision-making skills and suddenly you’re matched up with some questionables.

It’s also tough to get a gauge on when the best time to swipe is. Is it before you hit the bars? Mid-afternoon during class? Right in the morning when you wake up? Or at two in the morning when everyone is horned up? Many have attempted to answer this question, but none have substantial evidence. Until now, that is. The rating company Nielson analyzed data from Tinder (and OKCupid but no one uses that, right?) to find out when the best time to hop on the app is.

Here is what they found:

So therein lies the answer: 9:00 p.m. That’s when most users are active and spending the most time swiping. Conveniently, this was my go-to time, as well. It allowed me to set up any potentials throughout the night as backup plans. Always gotta have a plan A, B, C, D and Z. Always be grinding, always be swiping.

It shocks me that the usage takes a huge dive off the deep end after midnight. I would have guessed that users would be swiping all night until they hit the hay to rest up for another day of swiping. But maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe it means people are actually going to the bars and not on their phones the whole time swiping away mindlessly.
