The Sigma Chi Hot-Tub-A-Thon May Be The Most Brilliant Philanthropy Of All-time

Beer bongs and hot tubs. TFM.

This may be the greatest philanthropy idea ever.

For their annual Hot-Tub-A-Thon, the brothers of Sigma Chi at the University of Windsor will spend 100 hours in a hot tub, located in the heart of campus, to raise money for charity. This year, the brothers will be raising funds for the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance, a foundation dedicated to finding a cure to Friedreich’s Ataxia, a disease that causes progressive damage to the nervous system.

These sly bastards found a way to get service hours by just chilling in a hot tub all week. Not only that, but girls who may have had reservations about the question, “Wanna check out my hot tub?” will throw caution — and possibly their tops — to the wind and hop right in if it’s for a good cause.

Think about it. A bunch of girls funneling in and out of your hot tub for an entire week, all loosey-goosey from the chlorine seeping into their pores and the charitable spirit seeping into their hearts. Just a brilliant way to get la..I mean…give back to community).

Donate to their GoFundMe page HERE.

**UPDATE**

A brother in the fraternity e-mailed me with more details about the event.

Our chapter, the Kappa Mu chapter of Sigma Chi, has been running Hot-Tub-A-Thon for 14 years.

We have two brothers in the tub at all times, with a collection of brothers, sorority girls, and curious onlookers surrounding the tub.

We understand the idea sounds ridiculous, but we really try to focus on the philanthropic side of the event, and are a lot more focused on collecting donations (read: pestering any pour soul that walks by with a megaphone) than we are with trying to get laid.

Hot-Tub-A-Thon is back again for 2016! Hot-tub-a-thon is an event hosted by the Sigma Chi Fraternity in order to raise money for different charities catering to different goals throughout North America. The goal of Hot-Tub-A-Thon is for the members of Sigma Chi to last 100 hours, night and day, for a week long, within a hot tub in an effort to raise money for a donation to a well deserving organization. This year the charity being selected is FARA (Freiderich's Ataxia Research alliance) in order to help find a cure for Friederich's Ataxia, a disease that affects the joints and limbs and ultimately causes limited mobility as an individual gets older. Hot Tub-A-Thon will run from February 1st to 5th and will feature the brothers of the Sigma Chi fraternity collecting donations, and inviting anyone and everyone to come hang out around the hot tub with them for free and be warm during the winter season. This semester is guaranteed to be an exciting one, so come out and support the cause! For all the lovely folks that would like to help Sigma Chi raise money for Fredreich Ataxia research through FARA (Fredreich Ataxia Research Alliance) but cannot make it to the Hot tub we have you covered , all you have to do is go to the following link (gofundme) https://www.gofundme.com/HotTubAThon2016 and donation. Remember every dollar matters so donate as much as you can. Thank you soooo much For more information about the cause follow this link: http://www.curefa.org/index.php #ΕΧ #hottubathon2016 #FARA #raisingawareness #brotherhood #Uwindsor #kappamu #donateandhelp #sigmachi #philanthropy #greeklife @sigmachicanada @sigmachifdn @rushsigmachi

The banner photo at the top was taken from our archives (I just typed in “hot tub”).

These are some nice, stand-up guys and I let my imagination get carried away a bit on this one.

Love my boys, but based on the image provided, about the last thing I would want to do is be in a crowded hot tub with them while trying to get girls

The picture is certainly not ours. We try to have two brothers in the tub at all times.

By the end of the week the water in the hot tub is going to be a Hep-C-a-thon

We change the water at least once daily, strictly to avoid anything like this happening.

The GoFundMe page works out to $15 / hour. Nice…philanthropy is good, but you definitely don’t want to be a bunch of try-hards.
