Canada Offers Sanctuary From Trump

A Nova Scotian radio DJ has a solution for those Americans who dreadfully fear a country run by Donald Trump: actually move to Canada. The DJ, Rob Calabrese, has gone so far as to set up a website by the name of “Cape Brenton if Donald Trump Wins.”

To be honest, the website looks like something that your typical sub-par graphic design student could create in under an hour, however, it does contain a plethora of valuable information to people who may be interested in this proposal, such as the second question under the FAQ tab, “Is this a joke?” to which the answer provided is a reaffirming no.

The website’s sales pitch does not hold back in terms of taking shots at Trump either:

Don’t wait until Donald Trump is elected president to find somewhere else to live! Start now, that way, on election day, you just hop on a bus to start your new life in Cape Breton, where women can get abortions, Muslim people can roam freely, and the only ‘walls’ are holding up the roofs of our extremely affordable houses.

Just on a side note, to any Canadians reading this that may be unaware, Muslims actually can “roam free” in the United States and women are still able to get abortions.

While DJ Rob’s pitch largely revolves around advertising the island as a giant “safe space” for easily offended Americans to flock to, he also hints at another motive behind his master plan.

Our population is shrinking. A slow economy, in combination with out-migration has us on an unsustainable path. The truth is we welcome all, no matter the ideology. We have a beautiful island, a friendly people, a rich culture and a bright future. Join us here on Cape Breton Island!

A slow economy, an unsustainable path, and a falsified promise of a bright future — hmm is it just me or does this sound like the United States for the past eight years?.
